I was at WDW from 5th-11th of August. We were 6 people - no kids in our party. The youngest was 15. The last time we had visited WDW was in 2013.
These are my thoughts:
- In general, we thought the crowds and heat were going to be far worst than they actually were.
- We had a full day at MK on Saturday the 6th. The weather was perfect (not super hot at all). The crowds were bearable. We arrived at Welcome Show and left right after Wishes. During the day we got to do 12 rides (including all the big ones such as Space Mountain, BTMR, Splash, 7DMT, and the ones with "long lines" like Peter Pan and Buzz Lightyear). We did good planning of the rope drop rides, our FP+ rides and only had a 4th FP+. I think the longest line we did was 15-20 minutes. We met Merida, Jasmine and Aladdin. We had dinner at Liberty Tree that was SO good. We had so many breaks during the day for food or just resting. We did Festival of Fantasy parade with good seats and Royal Majesty Makers. We even had time for an hour of shopping at Emporium. We ended the day with Wishes from near the US flag at Main Street and headed back to Poly. We did SO much without rushing it.
- Hollywood Studios feels far less magical without the hat in the entrance
- We got to enjoy our stay at Polynesian much more than other times. We spent some time in the new pool which was awesome. The food at Capt Cook's feels much better. Ohana was amazing as always, and even got a table with view of the castle. They do run late most of the time so expect to have your table 15-20 minutes later.
- Memory Maker was one of the best purchases we have made! With the wifi available and mostly all of the park you could see the photos a couple minutes later. Also I saw so many more photopass photographers around WDW and they were all so nice!
- We were surprised on how EMPTY Animal Kingdom was when we went on Sunday 7th. We had FP+ for Kali, Kilimanjaro and Everest. When we went onto Kali and Killimanjaro, no kidding, the regular line had like...10 people overall? Maybe even less. We were so surprised!! Everest had a 15 minute wait but it was still pretty empty. All of this was around 5-8 pm so you'd be expecting it to have more people. Tusker House was also empty, we had the characters come back to our table like 10 times lol. Goofy was playing around all the time with my family. Mickey and Donald even had a Dance off for just...3 tables of audience.
- We had a dining package for Jungle Book which ended up being cancelled for DROPS of rain (that ended right after they announced they wouldn't do the show...the minute it was about to start). We went to Guest Services after that at AK and Michael offered us a $5 refund for each or FP. We choose FP and hegave us 3 FP + for the 6 of us for any ride at any park we wanted to, which was SO useful. We rode Soarin', Space and 7DMT to end our trip.
- The private patios at Blizzard Beach were AMAZING and so relaxing. Our server Taylor was great.
Overall our trip was amazing!
