Well, I'm at the NICK hotel as I type this. (they have free high speed internet access, btw)

First off, it's a really cute hotel and the employees are quite friendly. The "mall" (as they call it) is very busy and can be a bit loud but no more than a Chuck E Cheeses. LOL

We are on our way to have dinner at the NickToons Cafe so I hope it's good. We are also scheduled for a Spongebob and Friends character meal tomorrow morning....kids can't wait! :)

This has been our "relax" day so it's been soooooo nice to sit back and enjoy the resort.

Again, the hotel has a very fun and cute decor. Nicely "themed." And ya know...the employees are almost 'Disney friendly!' :cool1:

Hey, I sent you a PM a little bit ago. Hopefully we can meet up tomorrow or Saturday.

Bev

Thank you for taking the time to post. Let us know everything when you get back. We'll be arriving there June 29th for two nights. We have reservations for the character breakfast also so I'd like to hear how that goes. Also, if you get a chance, could you check out the kids spa and let me know how it is. Have a great time!

We are thinking about staying there for 4 nights in August while we explore a couple of towns we may be interested in moving too. It will be a non theme park vacation. Is there lots to do for kids? I have seen some pictures of the pool, does it really have all the slides or is it still under construction. We need a hotel that will keep us occupied in our down time.
Any info would be appreciated!!! :flower:

Bev--would love to meet you. I'll call you.

Just got back from dinner...btw, NickToons Cafe is not a buffet during dinner. The food is a bit on the pricey side but the food is good and the service, terrific. I ordered a bday cake for my son and they sang HBday to him...the cake tasted really good and it was decorated in orange, green and chocolate. (looked like a "slimy" cake...lol...he liked it. The waiter said that eventually the dinner will be either a character dinner or dinner show so that will be great!

As for the kids spa...I did see it but I have boys so we didn't really pay much attention to it. Though I did see lil' girls getting their nails done...so cute!

In an hour we are scheduled to see a Nick live show so I'll let y'all know how that goes.

The pool is fantastic! We were just there. They have music blaring and an employee talking to the kids and quizzing them about their favorite Nick cartoons. All the kiddos I saw were having a great time!

We are only staying here one night and plan to do nothing but relax before heading to Universal and Disney. Once we get to Universal and Disney we will be on the GO, GO, GO. I can see how a family can spend a day or two here and not need to go outside the resort. (more than two days..probably not, though I'm sure the pool can keep the kids happy for hours)

DH and I are already thinking that next vacation we will stay here on the days when we fly. This is a place where the kids will have fun but still allow the parents to unwind since everything is a short walk away. In other words, I haven't had that "hurry up" feeling that I usually get when we have reservations or a bus to catch.

Can you believe I actually got in a 2hr nap today and have time to get online!?! Now that's what I call a vacation! LOL

you're having fun.. We don't go until December but I can't wait!! We had so much fun last year there and now hopefully it will be even better!!

We are renting a 3 bedroom suite (5 boys aging from 5 to 13). We will arrive around 12:30pm and plan on spending the day just hanging by the pool and enjoying the hotel. Glad to hear there seems to be enough to keep them busy here. Then we will be heading to Disney Beach Club Villas for 5 days.
:cool1: :cool1:

The two days that we are spending there are non-park pre-Disney, pre-Universal days. We're just going to let the kids soak in the hotel. It sounds like you are having fun.

Very cool!! Thanks for posting! I just saw this hotel in a magazine add yesterday. The place looks awesome, especially the pool! Then I read that they have suites. Does anyone know the prices for these rooms? I would love to go check it out. Is it on highway 192?

Have a great time and thanks again for sharing!! :sunny:

Depends when you go and have any discounts but a 2bedroom suite is about $200.00/night

Wow, that seems to be a pretty good deal at around $200 a night!! I ususally stay on Disney property these days, but I think I'm gonna have to check this one out for a few nights!! :earsboy:

Thanks!

Hey Harmony how was the show what is your overall thought of this resort? Does it compare to Disney hotels???

I will be at Nick for a week in July
We will be going to WDW also.
My kids are as excited about the NICK hotel as WDW.
I know that I made the right decision because every review I have read whether positve/negative/or a little of both always includes "the kids loved it"
Thats what matters to me

She won't be home for 2 more weeks. She's at Disney now and doesn't have internet access. I'd suggest waiting 2 weeks before bumping this thread again to get your answer.

I visited with her at Universal where they were having a great time. She told me she just had high-speed access at Nick hotel and was able to post there but won't have internet access for 2 weeks.

How do you go about scheduling for the character breakfast? We have ressies for 2 nights in July but didn't know about the character breakfast. Any info please?

I'm back now and ready to share again. :)

First off...it was great meeting you Bev! Thanks for taking the time to meet with me and for answering all my Universal/HRH questions before I went on vacation.

Okay...about the NICK hotel.

I took another look at the "spa" and it was just a little space set aside for little girls to get their hair and nails done. It wasn't decorated or anything but the little girls seemed to be having fun and I guess that's all that matters. :) Maybe it's a good thing that it isn't decorated in a NICK way...it might make the little girls feel more mature. LOL

My 9y/o son and I took in the show. My son enjoyed it. He thought it was a bit funny. We played along in our seat. I do have to warn, the show itself isn't "too" funny or "slimy" so younger children might be easily bored.

The biggest draw to this resort is the pool. It's like a water park in itself.

We stayed in room 617 and I would recommend that part of the hotel 'cause a room directly across the pool might be too loud. Our view was so nice (the pond) and the area quiet. (behind the pool)

The morning we checked out, we did a character breakfast. The characters are colorful and full of energy. The buffet had typical breakfast food.

The only negative to this breakfast would be the way they do things as far as the characters visiting the tables go. It took forever for the characters to make their way around to our table 'cause they were constantly being interrupted by others that got up from their table to take pictures. It was a bit annoying. I finally had to speak to the manager who then brought over the characters herself.

I would suggest that they enforce the "sit down" policy. (like Disney does)

One little girl kept taking each character by the hand and leading them to her table. It was so unfair to the others. We only got to see all of the characters 'cause I made a point of talking to the manager...otherwise we'd have only visited with Dora the Explorer.

We waited patiently for our turn and didn't get up from our table (other than to get our food) so I felt that it was only right that we meet the characters before we left. After all, that's why we paid so much for our breakfast.

If you go to this meal and don't get a visit from the characters...talk to the manager.

NICK still has a ways to go before the breakfast is run like a Disney character meal but I'm sure they will get there! :)

Overall, our NICK experience was great! My son is already talking about "next time." LOL

Call the hotel. They will be able to set it up. Have fun! :flower:
