I'm angry vent update post #53, its over

I'm glad you are getting somewhere. Will you be putting in a formal complaint about the GP?

It sounds as though someone is finally listening to your dad Nikki, hope you nan is soon feeling better.

I agree you should lodge a complaint against the GP.

I am glad you are finally getting somewhere. With the right care and treatment i am sure that your nan will be on the road to recovery in no time.

Dont be afraid to complain about the diagnosis the GP gave your nan, they dont always know best.
My MIL had problems for years and the doctor said she had a stomach ulcer, she was constantly in pain and was at the doctors almost every week. It was only when the doctor was on holiday that she seen a locum doctor, he referred her for a scan. It showed that she had cancer of the ovaries and had spread to the stomach and was quite advanced. Unfortunately she passed away in May, the doctor got struck off but it wont bring back my MIL.

I dont want to scare you but it is not uncommon for GPs to get things wrong and i am sure my MIL case is rare. It is easy to say now but i always get a second opinion :)

I think my dad is going to put in a formal complaint about the GP, I think the consultant made notes about what my dad was telling him last night so hopefully that will help. I have never like her GP as when I got a motorbike a few years back he kept telling my nan I need to get rid of it, everytime he saw her he would ask her if I had. Sorry but it has nothing to do with him, yes I know they CAN be dangerous just like driving can be but that doesn't stop me from owning a car.

The matron of the care home is also having a complaint made against her as it turns out last night when the consultant said my nan needs to be in hospital, the matron kept saying to my dad I must phone for the ambulance for an hour & then she said she would do it after she had a coffee break:headache:

I know it sounds like we are just complaining but seriously my dad is so laid back it takes a lot for him to get this way.

My nan is seriously ill. We are allowed to go & see her anytime now & not just in visiting hours due to this. They are going to review her tomorrow & if she hasn't shown much improvement they are going to stop medicating her & let her go peacefully:sad1:

She is a fighter & I really hope that she can rally round but on the other hand I don't want to see her suffer:guilty:

The consultant put off the review till yesterday as on Monday she had shown a very slight improvement. Her sodium levels are back to normal due to the drip solutions she has been on, they are hoping she can maintain them.

The consultant is going to continue to treat/medicate her due to the improvement although she is no where near being better. he has said if she gets another infection that will be it as he doesn't think her body will be able to fight this it again. Her chest is still bad but she is having physio to help clear it.

The nurse told my dad on Monday that my nan is fighting this which surprised him as he thought my nan had given up the past few weeks.

My mum & dad went to see her yesterday and she was sitting up & a bit more alert, she could answer some of the questions she was asked but cannot talk much. Whereas on tuesday she couldn't respond to them. She did tell the minister who came round that she was 45 when asked:rotfl:

Hopefully she will continue to rally round.

Thanks everyone for you thoughts:goodvibes
