I'm a weak-willed woman, but I bought the airfare NOW!

Our trip isn't until the very last week in April 2002, but I bit the bullet and bought our five roundtrip tickets today, from Expedia. They were $198 each, out of Rochester NY, on USAIR. Now I know I'm going to be kicking myself in February when the great rates come out, but it was really important to me to get good flight times (early a.m. departure down, late afternoon back), and since those sell out so fast, I didn't want to chance it. Not much of a risk taker I guess. One thing that might be of interest to you: I tried to get these tix direct from USAIR (first online and then by phone), and was told all the seats for that rate were sold out. Expedia still had them, though--because of their contractual arrangements I assume they bought a bunch (help me Beverly Lynn ?) , and I was able to get them and select seating arrangements as well. So, if you don't succeed with the airlines direct, try Expedia...you still might get the flight you want.

I did the same thing our cruise is not until may 2001 but about two weeks ago I saw the best deal at Orbitz that I have ever seen out of STL so I jumped on it, may regret but it, but I don't think I would have gotten the Flight choices I got maybe the red eye or stand by, at maybe 15.00 less or even 20.00 but I'am not sure I have'nt seen many 99.00 rt tickets from STL to MCO so my 125.00 tickets are kinda like money in the bank and I can get a refund If I had to, I think you did the right thing cmatt

:bounce:

I bought ours last week too. They are from BOS to MCO 4/18-4/29. I got them on Deltas web site 158 roundtrip nonstop. We have been the past 2 years once this same April week once the last week of March for more so I bought now. I am happy with the price.

I just bought ours today, too! We are going the 2nd week of March and staying at Old Key West. I was just too paranoid about not getting a good fare. If they go down (which I highly doubt for that time of year) I can get the difference back. I do feel better knowing that I paid less than $200!!! Now we just can't wait to go...

Kat and Michele all thats left is to count the days til its time to go, right seee ya cmatt

:bounce:

for cheering me up! Actually, I'm feeling good about getting them now. There's some sort of "finality" in getting non-refundable tickets to WDW...there's no turning back now !!

Kate just start packing, thats all thats left good luck cmatt

FYI the flights you picked may not be what you end up with. between now and then you will have gone thru some major schedule changes. they do them quarterly. jan/apr/jul/oct.

I mean if the airline were to merge w/another or fold or something, but why else would they just change them?

Just trying to get all the facts before I purchase for next June.

Carla

Beverly I agree with Carla please explain what your ttrying to say its the airlines after all and nobody expects to depart or arrive at the times they say, as far as the other in the last 6 years I have worked for soon to be 4 different companys so one will always buy certain co's and the airlines are one of those look at TWA they are still saling tic for Twa,, cmatt

What Beverly Lynn means (I think) is that every quarter the airlines "re-do" their schedules. When you book flights so far in advance, there is a pretty good chance that the times of the flight you've booked will change by the time to take that flight. For example, I usually fly out of Newark on Continental. They used to have three early morning flights down to Orlando, but after looking at their demand in the past and current demand cancelled one of those flights. They did make arrangements for myself, but for a flight that left 3 hours later than the one I had originally booked. It does happen, and it's something you should be aware of, since it is known to happen. I no longer book flights too far in advance, I usually book flights about 3 months in advance, usually the best promotional fares are available during this time, and usually you don't get a huge schedule change during that time.

Thanks for the explanation to beverlys reasponse, thats cool for me as long as its the same day I'am good to go, I expect and I think most people do expect to make some kind of a adjustment considering they alterative of paying a 125.00 more per ticket oh gee lets see I think take door # 1 is the best way to go and just be prepared for some kind of correction formula, or wait and pay more and still be ready for some kind of adjustment,, cmatt

Thanks for that little tidbit of info, I wasn't aware that the flight times could/would change. Bev, can you tell me based on your experience, is it usually a drastic change or an hour or two? I would be very upset if I went ahead and bought tickets so far in advance to GET the times that I wanted, only to find out that the times had changed significantly...ie, late departure for Orlando, early departure for home (instead of the other way around). I certainly will be checking my flight times as it gets closer to April.

I think any time you book any thing early its subject to change, Even WDW and DCL in 1999 I booked early booking for DCL was book certian room certain deck on the Magic guess what it all changed in Jan. of 2000 , Magic started 7 day cruise, sad yes room change yes, ,deck change yes, time change yes. morrel to this story expect it with early bookings its part of life just be flexiable extra day each way,, cmatt and hope the weather cooperates with you.
