I waited too long to make a reservation at LeCellier for my upcoming 40th bday solo trip. I've been calling WDW-DINE nearly every day and LeCellier was booked on my bday for both lunch and dinner. Yesterday, I hung up the phone after speaking with WDW-DINE and then I called the Member Services # to ask some general questions about check-in. Before we ended the conversation, she asked if there was anything else she could do for me. I asked if she could make dining reservations to which she replied that she could. She also found that there was nothing available for dinner at LeCellier but there was an opening for late lunch. Wow! I took it. Actually, late lunch is better for me than dinner.
I think the one person thing was really throwing off my chances.
Do you think it's often better to use the Member Services # for dining instead of calling WDW-DINE?

Actually, I don't think that makes any difference at all. I think the closer you get to the date, that some times open up, and yes, your real issue was the number of people on the ressie. We had difficulty getting ressies for 2 and 3 because they tend to reserve for the larger groups first and they save the larger tables etc. We even considered making a reservation for 4 to get the 3 of us in at a time we wanted.

I had the opposite issue when making dinner ressies back in January. In many cases, the restaurants were booked but when I mentioned that the ressie was only for a deuce, we had no problem getting a table and LeCellier was our favorite restaurant of the ones we visited.

She did make the reservation for a party of 2 even though I'm only a party of one. Maybe that was the problem.

You were lucky - MS should not be making ADRs for renters.

Have a nice trip -
