I'm a new DVC member!!!!!

Where's that happy dance board? 'Cause I'm doing the Cabbage Patch and the Sprinkler!

We closed on 160 BLT points (resale for $103/pt), with all 2009 and 2010 points (free year's worth of points-yipppeee) last week. Just today, we are in the system. I've been calling every day for the past 4 days and today they gave me my member number!!!!!

Anyway, I wanted to book the week before T-giving (Nov. 13-20), 1 BR, and the only thing available was Kidani-Standard View, OKW, SSR. I don't know which to choose, although if I stay AKL, I'm thinking I'd rather a SV.

I am so thrilled. For the first time during one of our WDW trips, I'm not stressing over where to stay, knowing that we'll be going back again and again. I feel so much more relaxed about planning this trip!

I agree with your first thoughts re: AKV -- your first stay there should be a savanna view. Given the choices, why not start with OKW ... where DVC first started? Kinda like walking a historic trail, of sorts. Have fun!

Welcome! We just became members this week at BLT as well! Already booked this year for VGC (using a friends points) won't take our first trip home until next year, but already planning it! Enjoy your upcoming trip!

WELCOME HOME! You will not regret any resort choice. Each one has it's own charm. We joined 3 years ago and our goal is to try them all. So far we've done BCV, SSR, HH, VB, OKW. Our first trip to WDW was in 2005 at POR. It was so sad when we left, not knowing when we'd come back. It's still sad to leave but we start planning our next visit on the way home!!

I agree--first time you do AKL, do Savannah view.

I'm doing something similar--just closed on 175 at VWL but I'm adamant that the first time I stay there it will be during the Christmas Season.

So....my November trip (DH 60th) we're at Saratoga Springs--it was all we could get for Wed of Tgiving week.

February (20th wedding anniversary) .... we're going to try for OKW

September (my 50th)....either BW or AKL (we've stayed there before so I'll be happy anywhere).

I have to wait 18 months and 3 trips before I'll truly be staying at my home!

I took someone's advice here and booked AKV 1 BR standard with a waitlist for a savannah view. We'll see what happens! The good news is, since I was using banked points from 2009, I still have the majority of my 2010 points available for use.

The CM tried hard to explain to me the difference between selecting the "7 day-in-advance waitlist notification" option vs. the "30 day notification". (or maybe it was 31 days?). I still don't understand it. I mean, why wouldn't everyone hold out until the last available time to receive a waitlist request?

Congrats and welcome home! I just stayed at OKW for my 1st dvc ressie and LOVED it! I was tempted to WL other properties but the more I read about OKW the more interged I was and I am so happy I stayed there! Next visit BLT Dec 10 - 15! My DD is using points this summer (w/ 3 friends) BWV for 7 nights, I cannot wait for her review!
