i'm a late night snacker

i'm fine eating sensibly during the day--- but one 8 pm hits i start overeating

its not hunger -- its psychological--- i just want to eat---
its also my tv time --- i watch tv from8 - 10pm ( spanish soap opera's)


i thought of taping my shows and watching in the am .
walking on my treadmill while watching my shows

but its my down time and i hate giving it up


any suggestions
 
Do you eat a good breakfast? Sometimes that makes a difference at night.

Another thing that you might try is doing something "mindless" while watching the soaps during your down time, such as crocheting, needle work, scrapbooking. Just anything to keep your hands busy so that you don't have time to go for the food.

I think taping the soaps and watching during excersing is great. You can always read or find another "hobby" to relax you during the 8-10pm span. Maybe make a new ritual, such as taking a nice long bath just before bed, anything that will give you the sense that your day is at an end and keeps you away from the munchies. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

actually i've noticed that if i eat a bring breakfast--- i eat more during the day???

Any chance of walking your treadmill during that 8-10pm slot while you are watching your soaps? Maybe you could fill that time while you are watching tv with goal-getting activities rather than eating.

Another alternative is to prepare snacks sometime earlier in the day that you put aside specificaly to eat during that time period - cut up carrots and put them in a ziplock in the fridge, put a bag of light popcorn on the counter to be popped before your show starts or during a commercial. Make some sugar free jello earlier in the day and have it in the fridge to eat during that time period.

I am a big evening eater, too, and these are some strategies that have helped me. I have realized I am not going to eliminate the habit, so I do one of those things and then I move to my bedroom for the rest of the evening, to be away from the food. I take a huge iced water with me.

LORD!!!!!!!! I AM TOO! I remember reading on here once ( like you said ) its not out of hunger.........but two great tips were try chewing a piece of gum and having some water, or brush your teeth ( and floss) and of course try and go to bed early..for me its a habit of eating and watching tv. SO I try not to watch so much tv anymore, I have been painting, cleaning out closets, etc............ doing lots of cleaning at night which has been working out well cause at least the 3 year old is asleep and I can get alot done. I normally works nights but last week I was home for four stright nights so I painted the bathroom all the base molding and gave the bedrooms a real good cleaning before I knew it I was pooped cause it was 1 in the morning. Thankfully this week, I am working every night.

pop corn and lots of it.......my diet says I can have three cups of regular popcorn and I really do not care for popcorn BUT.......I will eat it ......another thing is to eat some ice cubes........dont' crunch them but just let them dwell in your mouth for a bit.........also frozen grapes are another good one.......try some of the stuff that is low in fats or carbs or whatever diet you are on type thingie.......good luck
 
Do something different and don't forget to drink your water.

Late night snacking is the worst. You do not get a change to burn off what you put in and your body does not release enough gloubenin which helps you burn calories in the night. Your insuline also goes up if you eat and that is not good when you are asleep.
 
I am also a late night snacker and one thing that helped me was a big steaming mug of decaf tea!

i decided before each snack tonight i will need to drink a glass of water---
should cut down on the xtra calories
