I'm a Dawn, are you a Dawn, too?

I'm one of the middle namers.

But for years I went by Dawn. When I started kindergarten, there was 8/9 of us Jennifers in the class. My mom HATES any shortened form of Jennifer. When the teacher asked for an alternative, we went with Dawn.

All thru elementary school I was Dawn. But once I got into middle school, I switched back over to Jennifer. There wasn't as many of us in any given class together. The kicker was, our elementary school feed into 3 different middle school, that all feed into 1 high school. When we hit HS, it confussed the heck out of a lot of my new friends from middle school for me to respond to people calling me Dawn. To this day, 30 some years out of elementary school, I still have one friend who calls me Dawn.

I'm a Jennifer Dawn, too! Not sure why but my family started calling me Dawn instead of Jennifer. How funny.

I was Dawnie when I was growing up. My mother called me Dawnie and my cousin still does. I was a junior in high school before I EVER met another Dawn. She was a Dawn Marie. I am a Dawn Julia. When I was little I spent more time spelling my name to adults who never heard of it!

I had a Cabbage Patch doll named Dawnie Joy. I like that name.

I had an Uncle Don. And where we live, it all sounds the same when spoken. So I became "Baby Dawn" and still have aunts and uncles who call me that. Real nice.

My sister is a Dawn. Growing up, she was Dawnie. My nieces now call her Dee. Her middle name is Annette.

I'm Kim (duh!), and growing up I was Kimmy, and for those of you in your mid- to late-40's and can remember this cartoon, I was also Kimba.

I totally agree! There is a Dawn in another department here at work. We speak about twice a year and when she calls, she says, "Oh, here I go talking to myself again!"

That's my second nickname. That, and when I go out with friends, they are all home before Dawn since I usually drive.

I'm a Dawn too and I've only known 2 others. One was a year older than me (I'm 36) and the other is in her 60's or 70's.

People always called me Dawn Marie. I guess those two names just go together. My middle name is actually Rechelle (rhymes with Michelle).

I've also always been called Delta Dawn. Unfortunately many people can't seem to resist singing the song to me.

I'm a Dawn Michelle! And I think all Dawns know all the words to Delta Dawn.

People say I pronounce my name wrong because I pronounce it like DON and not like Da-hahn. I just say it the way my mom said it.

I get that 99% of the time over the phone, and I definitely pronounce the "w" sound when I say it.

A lot of people here pronounce it Doan, so it rhymes with moan. That includes most of my family

I can't believe no one has brought up Dawn Dishwashing Liquid yet. That's the other one I used to get all the time.

My middle name is Dawn and my cashier at work is Dawn but other than that I don't think I know any others. When people would try to guess my middle name they came up with every D name known to man except Dawn!!
