::sigh:: Back home from WDW for one week now. Life is cruel...

I know that on Ebay there's someone that sells a good quality Fantasmic video. Has anyone ever seen an Illuminations video there?

Thanks!

Don't buy it. (IF it is the same guy who sells other Disney videos).

I bought several DVDs from him and the quality is godawful, especially the night-time/dark-scenes. He used the wrong exposure setting for his camera and the result is a washed-out low-res video that can't be watched without getting a migraine on a TV larger than 20".

Put it this way, my Digital8 recording of Wishes can be watched (and enjoyed) on a 46" TV.

I'm taking my video camera for the first time next trip. Any tips for getting good video of fireworks?

the most common mistake is panning the camera all over the place, zooming in and out, etc throughout the fireworks.

Move further back, and as much as you can do NOT pan the camera, do NOT zoom in and out. Imagine you're looking at the fireworks through a window, that's how you're supposed to tape it.

Secondly, check your manual whether there is an exposure mode called "night-time" or something like that (designed to record things at dusk/at night). The colours will be more vibrant. Of course, once you're in the daylight, you have to set it back to "Auto"

When we went and saw this show, we taped it as best we could, were amazed at the show and not too dismayed by the recording's quality.

Set the scene. We're back home. We're lovingly reviewing our tapes. We're watching the show. Then... "WE RECORDED OVER IT! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGH! NOW I MUST SACRIFICE MYSELF TO THE HEATHEN GODS!!!!!!!!!!"

Well, maybe not that last bit.

But seriously now, why buy tapes? Or even download them? They ruin, in my opinion, the wonderful surprises you experience when you see those shows for the very first time :)

Tapes are for memories, not sneak previews ;)

I bought the recordings (on DVDs, actually, not tapes) because the seller claims them to be of "professional quality".

After buying those DVDs (4 DVDs total in a single purchase), I will never even subject my enemy to those recordings.

Besides, he also sold recordings of "20KLUTS", the original "Tiki Room", "Main Street Electrical Parade" and other no-longer-operational rides.

So I guess I should finish editing my rather decent copies of most of the DL/WDW shows and make a killing sellin them- The only one I wouldnt give to others is the one filmed on Rock n Roller- Its a tad oh bumpy-- :)

Different person. I know of who you're talking about in regards to the DVD's. The person who sells the Fantasmic videos on EBay apparently did a great job with them and has great feedback. I was tempted to buy it when it looked like Fantasmic would go into winter mothballs but, since it didn't, I decided not to buy.
