Illumination Cruise PS Question

I read the thread regarding how to obtain a PS for the Speciality Cruise and see Illuminations. It states to request it for 8pm. This is where I'm confused...

If the cruise is for an hour, that mean it ends at 9:00pm just as Illumination begins.
If you reguest a half hour later, doesn't disrupt their scheduling?
Do people request the cruise for 9:00pm? And what happens to them?

Thanks for your input.

When I booked, I just asked for the Illuminations Specialty Cruise. I was told at the time of booking to be at the dock between 8:15 and 8:30. We got there at 8:00 and our driver was waiting for us! Our cruise left from the Boardwalk and our driver drove us by the Swan/Dolphin then to the Disney Studios, then back towards Epcot. He gave us some trivia on the S/D and stopped by the Beach Club and pointed out Michael Eisner's suite. We arrived under the bridge at Epcot approx. 5-10 minutes before Illuminations started. It was great!

Welcome to the DIS LeeAnne, I'm really glad you found us.

8PM is the last specialty cruise of the day. In order to get your reservation made as quickly as possible (seconds count when hundreds of people are trying to reserve 5 or 6 boats) I suggest that you call and simply state you want the 8pm specialty cruise on whatever date.

Once the reservationist tells you that you have the reservation then you tell him/her that you want to see Illuminations. The only purpose in this is to get your reservation request made as quickly as possible.
