Il Pochi il Fiero Y Blabbermouths...still making Magic!

Hi Garry - We have enjoyed a few weekends since you posted this.

Will we see you in January? with Stacey? Or is that Stacie.....? Maybe Tracie.:rotfl2:

Call me anything you want....just don't call me late for dinner. (an old phrase my grandpa used)
:goodvibes

And yes....Waterfront Marriott....6:00-ish.....we can either eat there, or go someplace yummy recommended by the Tampa group.

And OOPS I DID IT AGAIN!!!!

pirate:pirate:pirate:pirate:

Not as good as being number ONE.....but with prayers and pixie dust:tink: he's getting closer!!!

:thumbsup2

Catching up with you all! Tori had her wisdom teeth removed several days ago and is still recovering. Poor baby -- I'm really proud of her! For someone who claims to have very low pain tolerance, she's been remarkably mature. No complaints, no whining. The swelling is finally starting to go down. She will be able to eat "real" food again by Christmas! :goodvibes

I had mine removed when I was about her age. I whined. I complained. I was not mature.

Good for her!!!! I'm proud of her, too!!

Aw, I hope Tori is feeling better. Alicia did that last year. I remember doing it in my early 20s, but I was on my own and pretty sure no one was around to wait on me or listen to me whine!

Well, I will never take a kitchen for granted again. We are nearing the end of the remodel, but no counter tops for a week means no stove top, sink, or dishwasher. About to figure out if Christmas dinner can be done with just an oven and a bathroom sink. Bad timing, but this is always a slow time of year for any normal people to want remodeling done.

Stacey, saw your Facebook post about Arthritis. Welcome to one of those clubs no one wants to be in. Sorry you've joined. Mine has "osteo" in front of it, don't know what the difference is. Anti inflammatory diet helps though, it truly does.

Tori is almost completely better! She still has a little swelling and you can see where she was bruised. She and I joke that Dr Patel "roughed her up a little"!! She adores him, by the way! ;)

Diana - I'm sure you will be so happy to have the kitchen fully functioning again! This year's Christmas Dinner will be an adventure for sure! ;)

Sorry about the arthritis, ladies. :sad1: I haven't been diagnosed yet, but know it's just a matter of time (knees). Pretty sure mine is osteo also.

Here's a comparison of the 2: "Osteoarthritis, the most common form of arthritis, involves the wearing away of the cartilage that caps the bones in your joints. With rheumatoid arthritis, the synovial membrane that protects and lubricates joints becomes inflamed, causing pain and swelling. Joint erosion may follow."

We're expecting severe storms here shortly -- this weather is more like July than December. :upsidedow

Happy Sunday! :goodvibes

Laura summed it up. Mine is osteoarthritis, too. And I have osteoporosis. The osteoarthitis is degenrative...I guess the osteoporosis is, too, now that I think about it...just going to keep getting worse.
The hormone replacement therapy helps some, and I get joint fluid replacement in my knees....I've done that for quite a few years now, buying time until I get total knee replacements. The injections aren't fun, but for me, they really work. And they last a long time. They're "Supartz" injections.
I get cortisone injections in the shoulders.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder, and treated differently.

No matter how you say it, it's just no fun at all.
Add in the broken vertebra in my back, and I qualify for handicap status....and probably could collect disability if I ever wanted to go through all the paperwork.

When Jared was maybe 4 or 5, we started our whole house remodel. We basically tore everything out. It took two years, because we used a lot of the local subcontractors that we're friends with and do business with. The trouble with that, is that if they decided a particular Saturday was a good day to go fishing, they'd do that, rather than come work on the house.
Drove me absolutely crazy. And all three kids (obviously) were still at home.

We've redone the flooring in some of the rooms since then, painted, and a few other things. I've been planning to do the floors and tile in my bathroom, but I just can't even think about the mess of tearing it all out again......:crazy2:

This "getting older" stuff is for the birds!! :rotfl:

I will definitely look into the Supartz injections. Sometimes the pain in both knees is so intense, I am either in tears or just very cranky (and Dwight and the kids would prefer me in tears to being cranky!)

We have lost every dollar of equity we put into this house and then some. I figure when it gets to the point where this house needs updating/remodeling (which isn't too far off), we will sell it and move! This is a terrible thing to say, but I just don't care anymore. :confused3

I got my first injection in my hip a couple of weeks ago. Rheumy said I have Trochanteric bursitis there. Guess it is not a good sign that it already hurts again. I abused my joints for years, dancing, skiing. I feel lucky that if I'm a good girl and don't eat a lot of grains or sugar, the only thing that really hurts is that darn hip.

Laura, doubt if we will get our money out of the new kitchen, but it was a good deal for us since the labor is "free". And we will really enjoy it until we move, whenever that is. We got cabinets at cost. Kevin now shares a warehouse with a cabinet dealer. She threw in a Viking cooktop used for display. Score! Had to buy a comparable oven though.

The downside is, we have no vacations planned for 2014. We do need to use a timeshare week in Napa though. Life is tough.

The house: we did it after the kids were old enough to know not to color on the walls, but early enough that we could enjoy it the way we wanted it. The people who built the house built it for themselves (he was a contractor) and it was SOOOO dark....dark wood, dark flooring...it was like living in a tomb.
Anyway....at this point, when we sell, it really doesn't matter. We got enjoyment out of what we put into it.

Supartz.....they do a series of 5 injections, spaced a week apart. The first one hurts (a lot) for a day or two.....second one, not so bad....by the third one, you'll finally feel relief like you haven't felt in forever. I've managed to get a good 3 or 4 years out of each series.
They hurt because it's a really thick fluid that's filling in the space where your own body's synovial fluid is supposed to be. The lack of that fluid makes bone rub on bone which equals pain.
I just wish they could do the same stuff in my shoulders. But at least I always know when it's going to rain.:umbrella::rolleyes2

And yes.....probably my own fault. It does run in the family, but playing football with the boys, water polo, softball....and just being clumsy....didn't help, I'm sure.

No plans for 2014 here, either. Our buddies are going to either Roatan or Caye Caulker, Belize...and I'm hoping Jay will decide that we NEED to go with them....::yes::::yes::::yes:: But not holding my breath.

So it will just be trips to see the grandbabies again this year.....

AND HOPEFULLY A TRIP TO FLORIDA TO BE THERE FOR GARRY WHEN THE "BIG EVENT" HAPPENS!!

:thumbsup2

Good Morning...yes, I too had mine removed when I was about her age. I was home from Christmas break and wanted to go shopping so I did! The dentist called my Father who was all in a panic. And the dentist told my father I had to take my medicine, it was just for pain. So I did as Daddy asked nicely. Turns out I am allergic. Great...now my Daddy has to call my Mother to come home and take care of me as I am both hallucinating and throwing up (great). So when all that was over I was hungry. Mother made all sorts of things for me. Jello, mashed potatoes, (no ice cream). They had fried chicken. Anyone know I am stubborn. One look at that green jello and I had fried chicken also. Hey I still had front teeth. Yes, true story but I was lucky I was not in pain (after the medication wore out).

Good Luck getting last minute Christmas completed.....

Had to laugh....when I had my tonsils out (age 12) and my wisdom teeth, I didn't want any ice cream, I wanted mashed potatoes!

With my wisdom teeth, I was working at the County Hospital in a ward for children with extreme disabilities....worked the night shift, and they insisted I come to work the same night I'd had my wisdom teeth removed. Needless to say, I didn't last long before they sent me home.

I wanted to squeeze this in before everyone gets really busy...
