Stacey - great pictures of Ronan, had seen them on facebook, but they do deserve to be seen again. Love the drool :goodvibes

Ashley has been doing Physical Therapy for over a month now. It has been so hard to keep that up with everything else. For example this last week, she had morning swim practice Monday and Wednesday from 5:15 am - 7 a.m., school, then high school swim practice from 3:00 - 4:30, Physical Therapy from 5:00 - 6, then home for dinner, homework and finally bed, Tuesday was easy, only 2 swim practices and then on Thursday, we had a nighttime swim meet for high school. She was supposed to go to a USA Club swim meet last night, but I scratched her. She is just too exhausted. I am so glad she has a week off of school this week. We will go to swim meet today for a few events. she is very close to a couple more sectional times that she would like to have.

We leave for North Carolina tomorrow to visit our best friends that we cruised with on the Blabbermouth cruise. She is very excited to see her bff. We have lined up college visits on Monday at UNC - Chapel Hill and Tuesday at NC State - Raleigh. She is going to tour campus and also get to meet with swim coaches. She is very excited. One of her high school male team mates signed with Stanford yesterday and they had a big to do at the school and that got her really excited and anxious to start looking at colleges.

I hope everyone has a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving

GOOD MORNIN ALL

Somewhere along the way I missed that he was now in Minnesota. I hope it's at least a little less COLD there.

He is still stationed in ND. His base Honor Guard covers a 5 state region so they do a lot of traveling for events and funerals.

That is excellent that she can see that the hard work in school and swim team can pay off for her. Last Wednesday (11/11/09) was National Signing Day for the various sports. One of Lisa's teammates signed her contract with Ohio State University (the Ohio Mouses would have loved to have visited the gym that day). All of the Coaches wore Ohio State shirts, her family was decked out in red and gray, and the entry area was decorated with ballons, a cake, etc to celebrate her signing a full ride scholarship to OSU. She is a very good student so that helped as well.

At Alex's party, they talked about what it took to acheive this goal (13 years of gymnastics and a 4.0+ GPA) and tried to motive the younger gymnasts. I bet this is what they did with the Swimmer signing as well. Did it motivate her?:thumbsup2 Good Luck to her make a choice. What year is she? I know that can't technically talk to her until Sept 1 of her Junior year. Has she had "inquires" from any of the Universities yet? Let the recruiting begin . . . :cheer2::cheer2:

What a fun day! I left the rest of my decorating and wrapping until tomorrow and followed Sharon K around while she did her Christmas shopping. I wasn't driving, so I didn't have to worry about the traffic and parking, and we went to a ton of fun places that I don't usually go. Topped it off with a late lunch and then Costco.
I'd told her at first that I should stay home and get some work done, and then she twisted my arm ;), so I went. Other than the Mom's cruises, I can't remember in forever just wandering with a friend and having a whole day to enjoy. :cutie::cutie:

Now next weekend, I get to do it with Frances too!!! :yay:

Wow...I didn't know that. I'm sorry that he had to attend a funeral for a fellow serviceman, though.
How long will he be stationed up there? Does he have an idea of his final destination?

Pam, that Ashley is quite the girl! :cheer2: I know you and Charlie must be extremely proud of both of your kids. Congrats!!

Megan's birthday is 2 weeks after Christmas, and I hadn't given any thought to a birthday present...poor girl....not fun to have the two so close together.
She solved my problem by asking today if I'd buy tickets for she and Dave to go see "Rent" for her birthday. Gladly!! One more thing to check off the "To Do" list!!
Now all I really need is to figure out what to get Jay for Christmas. :scratchin Any ideas??

Only the Air Force knows. :thumbsup2

You are worried about two weeks after Christmas? :confused3

Sharon and I have our anniversary tomorrow and I still have not gotten her a card or gift.

Yes, they did talk about what it takes and what you need to start doing as early as your freshman year in high school. Sounds like the two signing events were pretty similar. The area was all decked out with Red and White balloons, a big cake, lots of media, coaches present, etc. etc.
As long as we make the contact and do "unofficial" visits she can visit schools and even talk to the coaches for a tour of the swimming facilities, ask questions about the program, etc. Matter of fact, they can only respond to emails that I send. Once on campus, I have to call them, they can't call on my cell. Interesting stuff. She is same age as Lisa, (sophomore). She really has no idea where she would like to go. The two big schools in Texas are pretty tough to make the team, so she has another 18 months to improve to see where she is at.

Happy Anniversary Jim & Sharon!
:love::love::love::love::love::love:

Jim, that was a very nice picture of Matt.

Pam, you should be very proud of Ashley. What is she having to do PT for?

Garry, when are you moving to FL for good?

Who has time off this week? I only get Thurs. off but am hoping it's going to be a slow week.

My toy soldier. He is in Minnesota doing his first funeral tomorrow as Honor Guard.

The funny part is that he is excited because he gets extra pay and comp time for having to travel on Friday and work on Saturday.

It will be interesting to hear his story about the funeral and his experience. It appears to be for an active duty who committed suicide. Matthew should learn a lot from this four month assignment.

Jim and Stacey - thank you both for posting the details of Matt's assignment as well as his new posting - and Stacey for the picture. It is both humbling and tragic that this was Matthew's first posting as an Honour Guard....

With that - an early Thankgiving thanks for all our blessings.

I have company coming this weekend, so I wanted the outside decorations done. But they aren't. I needed the tall guys to help, and they weren't home. I won't do any of the inside decorating until after Thanksgiving, that IS a rule. ;)

I need to get Jay stuff I can AFFORD!! :rotfl:
I did come up with a few practical things. Those are his favorite kind of gifts, but no fun at all.

This is so tragic.....did you hear about the group of CM's from Animal Kingdom? They were celebrating the end of their contract with a cruise on the Magic. Took a non-DCL excursion riding a dune buggy, crashed and died. There were 5 who took the excursion and died, one other person with their group didn't go along. :sad1::sad1:

Newer reports list only 2 people as dead...and they don't say anything about them being CM's....some from the Magic, some from a Carnival ship.
