Ignore button

Because people want to share their emotions. Ignoring someone is probably triggered by some sort of emotion. And you feel a need to share it. You can't put it on Instagram that you are ignoring someone on the DIS, that would be silly as your followers probably don't know what the DIS is.

Or maybe it is a sign of a feeling of superiority "some people are so stupid I cannot handle it and people have to know there are stupid people on here. If I find them stupid, others might think so to!" Although that last remark could mean they are actually very lonely and/or insecure and need a buddy to validate their thoughts.

I have one person on ignore, and I might add a second. There are also some people on here whose comments always amaze me, but I don't ignore them, because I feel superior every time I read their comments 😉
I live and exude superiority!🥴👑 How did I not know there is an ignore button!!? 🤣

Here’s a question - do people get a notification when you put them on your Ignore list? Just wondering

I don't think so. Although if it did, then that makes the grand public announcement of blocking them even funnier. 🤣

IDK, all this talk about ignoring. Such divisive chatter on here. I am too stressed about all this negativity on the Dis. After quick thinking, I am going to be taking a long break.

(and by long break I mean 15 minutes) :rotfl:

Shoot, I missed the small text. I was going to reply "see you tomorrow!" :rotfl2:

What about turning off the footnotes people on here have? I don't see any of Pea-n-me's list of past stays, is that considered a half-ignore?

Because then I am half-ignoring the entire board.
Turning off Signatures. I think a lot of people do that for a neater reading experience. I like seeing Signatures.

Never found a need to use the Ignore button, scrolling past works just fine.

I can see announcing you are leaving. I left for a little over 2 years without an announcement, and if anyone noticed, they didn't say.

I use the Ignore button a bit.

If there is a new spam poster, after reporting, they go on ignore; that way I don't have to see their spam ads all over the boards that day.

Also, I do ignore the "name a type of song that fits the shoe style you are wearing" type posters. Not really interested in seeing 25 of those type posts every day.

And...I do have some people on there because I just don't want to hear what they have to say.

I don't see the need to go "welcome to ignore". It's not like they would see me posting that to them anyways....

I go through and delete people off the ignore list every few months, if they aren't posting any longer (such as those spam posters) or if I'm over my snit with them.

☝️ Pretty sure I'm one of the 13, LOL. I think we went about a while back... Maybe, maybe not.

I have only put one person on ignore, on another forum. It's an all-topics subsection of said forum. Religion, politics, it's all good to discuss, that's what it's for. We call it The Basement. There's another off-topic for general non-political/religion/other talk.

Put the guy on ignore from his ranting of assessments of video showing you exactly what happened while he always argued the person massively wronged was the one in the wrong. It was during the getting to be common event street protests of last year. But he was constantly quoted by others so it made reading the thread difficult so took him off ignore.
Nope, you're not one of them 🤣 I know we have differing views, but you don't disrupt my peace in how you present them 😁

I finally turned off two posters because they just posted tons of questions and never engaged in conversations with people that replied. And I feel like I can navigate the pages a bit better instead of scrolling past many questions a day. But I would never ignore someone that might have different opinions.....those DISers are fun and interesting. I have grown immensely as a person because of different views on this board, after 22 years! :goodvibes

The only people that I have on ignore are people who (in my opinion) spam the board with threads

It's to clean up the board. Some people post a lot.

A couple for posting too much,

I just find their posts annoying.

I didn’t ignore them because of their comments, it was just because they would post pointless threads

Who else wonders now if they are on someone's ignore list and why?
I'm sure I'm on several.
there have always been posters who spam the board with every thought that enters their fool heads. Mods won't step up because clicks=revenue. Those are the ones I ignore.

I'm guessing your first page of threads is about as short as mine

Likewise here. Several posters ask everything. Not seeing those does clean up the first couple pages immensely. And yes, some days, those pages do get pretty short, I suppose after a heavy drop. But that's fine.
Fly Girl is one of the most diplomatic people here. When an argument breaks out, she handles it like an even-keeled pro.
Agreed

No, they do not
