...because you've already had a good view of them during your first couple of nights, what is a good way to spend your time during these shows on your other nights in the park? I just read somewhere that Fantasyland is closed during the fireworks - I hadn't heard that before. Anything else unavailable during these times? Are there certain rides that are best to hit during F! and Fireworks?

Nemo's lines are normally a bit better during fireworks if you haven't already gotten on it.

But some really fun rides to be on during fireworks are BTMRR and Matterhorn.

Is the Matterhorn open or closed during the fireworks? I'm under the impression that it's closed but I've never gone over to check, so anyone else know? Also, isn't Small World roped off during the fireworks since it's close to Toontown? Thought we saw that earlier in the month.

Toontown closes early, and yes Fantasyland rides are closed during the show. There's a huge section that's roped off but people can wait there until it reopens, if you want to beat the crazy Peter Pan crowds!

Since there's usually more than one Fantasmic showing but only 1 fireworks show, during the fireworks is probably when you should try to take the most advantage of things, I think maybe the first Fantasmic showing would draw bigger crowds - so 1st Fantasmic showing followed by the fireworks should help you get a jump on things. Just go to what ever is pretty nutty during the day like:

Indiana Jones
Nemo
Splash Mt.
Space Mt. (Ghost Galaxy)
Restrooms

I'm pretty sure Matterhorn is open and positive IASW is open (a good place to watch the fireworks too). I'm not sure if Alice/tea cups are open or closed? If you go on BTMRR, it is crazy traffic after the fireworks with people trying to get to the 2nd F! Show. I'd avoid frontierland in general at that time.

The lines at Space Mtn are usually pretty short at that time, if you havent done it yet you can sometimes get through the line 2-3 times :)

IASW closes at least an hour before the fireworks, and then has to get the fire marshall's OK to reopen. People sit and watch the fireworks, and it's all roped off (then they have a small rope drop and walk people to the ride once it's reopened), and they play light stuff on the outside of it during the fireworks. The first time we saw the fireworks, we watched it from back there...and we were so nice to the CMs they told us where they'd open the rope so we could be the first on IASW when it opened. We enjoyed it.

I've heard repeatedly that Matterhorn is a great place to ride and watch the fireworks at the same time, so I assume it's open. Nemo's open.

But we like being in NOS and Critter Country (realizing that if Fantasmic is playing it's going to be slow-going getting in and out of there) as well as Adventureland (you can see bits and pieces of the fireworks from Jungle Cruise)...basically, places that are open and out of the mess. :)

DM and I think alike. We try - sometimes successfully - to be on these rides during the fireworks. It is very cool when you can time it right. :)

As most of you know Matterhorn has two lines. One is on the "Fantasyland side" and the other on the "Tomorrowland side" that curls back behind the Matterhorn. These two lines feed the two separate tracks. If there is an evening parade they close the FL side at the time and keep the TL side open which in fact feeds both sides of the track. That means it moves twice as fast. And once they close the FL side they keep it closed for the rest of the night.

They do close the FL side before the fireworks too I am pretty sure. Maybe that is what you are thinking - that the FL side is closed during fireworks? The TL side does remain open all evening.

We were there last week while the parks were at capacity or very close. We saw the fireworks on Wed. so we hit other rides during the fireworks. Pirates had no line - that was really nice. We also rode BTMRR and the line was a lot smaller. In the past we have also ridden Indy with minimal lines. It is a great time to do some of the rides that have longer lines.

During the fireworks on Tuesday night, when there was no Fantasmic, we had an entire boat to ourselves on Pirates. BTMRR had a huge line immediately after the fireworks. I also believe that the Matterhorn was completely shut down during the fireworks, both sides.

We are here now! and went to Haunted Mansion and Splash mountain during that time....it was pretty quiet in New Orleans area..

Thanks All! Can't wait to try out my ever-growing list of tips and tricks next month! :thumbsup2

I really enjoy Matterhorn during the fireworks. We never watch so we make a point to hit up rides that normally have longer lines during that time and to stay in one area so we don't get herded with the rest of the cattle.
