If you watch college football.....what teams (s) do you root for?

Are the Owls still as bad as they were when I went there (mid 90s)? I never went to a game, but I remember seeing some highlights on TV when they played at old Veterans Stadium. They'd play some team I've never heard of and there would be maybe 500 people in a 70,000 seat stadium. It was silly.

Temple was ranked for the first time this year since 1979. They finished the season 10–4 (7–1 in the AAC) and went to the Boca Raton Bowl, where they lost to the Toledo Rockets. They had three players drafted in the NFL this year. They beat Penn State for the first time since 1941 (we were at that game, it was awesome!).

They play at Lincoln Financial Field, although they are working on getting their own stadium built not far from campus.

My daughter is a Junior and is in the marching band, so we've been to maybe a half dozen games in the past two years. We'll be going to 3 this year.

They are pulling a few thousand people per game right now, except when they play Penn State or Notre Dame, when the Linc is sold out.

GO DAWGS!!!!!

Just as I do every year, I enter September with unbelievable (some say delusional) levels of optimism for what the season holds. I can not wait to attend my first game of the season in 3 weeks (UGA vs Mizzou in Columbia), and then to fly home to Athens for two other big conference games later in the season. My mom and sister will be with me for all three games, it's a family affair!! Gameday in Athens is practically a family reunion

I root for all SEC teams, esp in non-conference games. And for SEC games, whoever is playing Florida ;)

Hope you enjoy your time on the Show Me State!! :)

I love college football and especially the SEC. I have three teams and unfortunately they are all SEC East so I have several conflicted games. I grew up a UT fan - Go Vols! The atmosphere in Neyland stadium is phenomenal. My daughters went to UGA and I grew to love Athens. A football Saturday in Athens is almost magical. I can't think of a better place to spend a fall weekend. And thirdly I attended Vanderbilt and, since I live near Nashville, that is my home team. Despite not usually being competitive we go to all of their games. Our first game is tomorrow night and I have been busy getting my tailgate food ready.

Just in case that last one wasn't obscure enough:

(Note, I don't actually watch their games. It's where I went to school, though. It's smaller than my high school was.)

War Eagle!!!!!!

I went to Auburn and my dad went to Alabama and my husband, who is not from the south, decided to side with my parents during football season. And we live in a state where you are a Cyclone or a Hawkeye (or something like that) and I am constantly asked which I am and I don't give a hoot about either. But I will root for other SEC teams depending on the situation. Never Florida. Never LSU.

THE Ohio State University- I am buckeye born and bred-bleed scarlet and gray.

I was born while a big Ohio State game was on TV- my dad was so distracted he thought the doctor said I was a boy. Even a baby can't compete with Buckeye football apparently haha.

O-H...

I-O!

Grew up in Columbus and went to Ohio State. I'll have the flag out front this weekend!

Clemson born, Clemson bred, and when I die, I'll be Clemson dead! Although, I'm ashamed that I really didn't want to go there until my dad offered to buy me whatever type of car I wanted if I'd go.

I graduated from OU...

Hail to the Victors!

Go BLUE!

The Team, The Team, The Team

"Who's Got It Better Than US!" "NOBODY!"

I guess I like Michigan just a little ;)

We are a football family 150%. We are Maize and Blue all the way. Actually right now, DH is wearing a Michigan hat, DS16 is wearing a Michigan HS Camp tshirt from last summer, and DS10 is putting his homework away in his Michigan backpack. haha

DH is the director of coaching/player safety and coaches 8th grade youth football in our town's league, and DS16 (who is watching his hopes and dreams swirl down the drain of disappointment as he sits out of his 2nd high school season in a row with injured shoulders) would LOVE to coach college football as a career someday. He is a coach trainee for our 7th grade team and helps coach his own linemen on technique during practice since he can't hit right now. (hopefully only 4 more weeks!)

Although, DH likes Notre Dame (Brian Kelly) too, and Northwestern (Pat Fitzgerald) coaching philosophies, too, just as much as Harbaugh's. I'm gonna unabashedly name drop here and say that DH works closely with Fitzgerald in the Head's Up tackling movement and our league has been out several times to NW to sit in on the college boys and cheerleaders practice and then they have skill sessions with our players. Our kids love it and so do the players/cheerleaders!

And DS has talked with Harbaugh several times as well, when he's been out in MI, about the state of youth football and how to make parents feel safe about letting their kids play. Actually, DH suggested a year or so ago to Harbaugh that he hold a parent meeting in the Ann Arbor area where his own kids play, to talk about safety initiatives and what is being done to make the game safer. 3 weeks later, he got an email from Harbaugh directly telling DH thanks and sending him the meeting invite! DH sent a response that he couldn't make it, but anytime Harbaugh was in OUR area he was more than welcome to come out to a game or practice! lol

They play at Lincoln Financial Field, although they are working on getting their own stadium built not far from campus.

That would be...uh...interesting. Build a stadium near campus. I can only imagine all the people who'd come from out of town if Penn State came and didn't know about the area around Temple campus. Yikes. When I first flew the nest and moved out of my parents house, I lived at 5th and Girard and walked to campus. I'm lucky I didn't get killed or mugged.

Miami Hurricanes- The U!!!

Florida Gators- I have relatives that graduated from UF and I did live in Gainesville for almost 4 years (although, I did not get sucked into the orange and blue that many people told I would, lol), but I do root for the gators, except those times when they do play against Miami.

If I happen to be watching an FSU game, I'm for the team against those Noles!

Small world! Northwestern grad here as well. The year I was a freshman, the seniors were seeing the football team win for the first time in their entire 4 years on campus. It was quite an event.

And my son is at one of the University of Missouri campuses right now.

That probably was me--I started in 1979 and graduated in 1983--but it's not 100% accurate as there was no class that never saw a win until their senior year. NU won the first game we saw as freshman in 1979--beating the almighty Wyoming Cowboys during what was then New Student Week--then lost 34 straight, meaning we didn't see a win until the Northern Illinois game in 1982. And there weren't a lot of close games in between, as I sat through (well at least until halftime) losses as bad as 65-0, 70-6 and 63-0 during that time. At least one of those was homecoming.
