If you want to sell a first gen ipad..

I thought I read somewhere that it just had to power on, and not have scratches on the screen, but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe just call and ask?

I went in. No trouble trading it in. Then bought the 16 gb mini and got the 25 gift card with it. Great deal - glad it was posted, I would've missed it otherwise.

Thank you for posting this! Anyone know how long they are doing this for? I might have to do it!

And I'm assuming you can use the target res card too and get the extra 5% off the mini? Does it work on apple products?

I just did this yesterday. I was able to trade-in my DDs 1st gen iPad for $200 and my old (with a cracked case!) iPhone 4 for $100! Got DD a new iPad with the gift cards. Great deal. The guy doing the trade-in said that as long as it powered on and the screen wasn't scratched, they would do full trade value as advertised.

Question - did you guys wipe the data clean before you got to the store or there? I read somewhere else to NOT do before getting there so they can access some info. Would love to hear your experiences with this!

We did wipe it before we went, and had no problem. There is no info they would need to access that would be wiped out by returning to factory defaults.

I wiped it before I got there - the guy was able to get to the right screen no problem. Maybe some of them aren't sure how to do that if you have wiped it?

Thanks to you both! Looks like our store carries the White iPad airs but only in 16 and 32 gb and I want the black 64gb so might have to wait to get mine but I'll see what they say this afternoon.

Thank you for this post. I might have to trade my 1st gen as well. :) I NEVER would have known.

I follow a bunch of deal blogs and none of them mentioned it. One tweet from a place that I don't even know if they have a blog. It used to be these were the kinds of deals I found around here but doesn't seem like that happens as much anymore.

I actually saw this deal on my local news the other night.

Funny- my local news segment about 'saving' the other day featured a mom who made custom kids' clothing for sale. I'm not saying the stuff wasn't cute or that it was overpriced, it was just a really odd topic for a segment that was supposed to be about saving money.

That is strange. Custom clothing is rarely a money saver, generally anything but :)
