If you use a timeshare exchange like RCI or II for a Disney resort can you do the DP?

I read somewhere that you need to be an actual DVC member to get magic your way tickets and the dining plan. If you do a trade/exchange with these timeshare companies listed above does it exclude you from doing this? or once you trade are you considered to be a DVC member for your week?

Is it different if you rent/buy points?

DVC itself doesn't sell tickets, you get them through the usual sources.

Exchanging in, you can get the dining plans. Just call DVC Member Services and have them add the plan. You'll pay for it at check-in.

BTW, DVC no longer has a relationship with II. They dropped II around the beginning of this year and are now working exclusively with RCI.

You can purchase dining plan, you must call 3 days before check-in and have it noted ( must be purchased for everyone noted as staying in your villa & purchased for entire length of trip based upon number of nights ) You will pay for Dining Plan when you check in. You can also arrange to use Disney's Magical Express bus service to / from Orlando airport as well.

You are not considered a DVC member during the week you trade-in & stay at DVC resort ( & you are not considered a DVC member if you rent DVC points which is actually renting a booked reservation from a DVC member) so you wouldn't get to take advantage of member perks like free internet, any dining/shopping discounts that may be offered, pool hopping, etc. But you are allowed what regular onsite resort guests are entitled to during your stay - use of Disney transportation, free parking at theme parks & parking (usually for 3 hours) at other resort hotels if you plan to dine there or browse around, free delivery back to your resort of things you may purchase at gift shops in the parks.

If you buy DVC points then you own those DVC points & you are a DVC member and then would be entitled to member benefits ( buying points is not the same as renting DVC points )

:goodvibes

For the DDP you must get it for all 7 days and all members in the party even if they stay one day only.
