If you stay off-site, can you use Disney buses?

Uggh, reading some of this made me a bit squeemish  :scared:

Please don't think that the few voices here speak for all.

My family and I are staying 2 nights at the AKL & 5 nights at the Poly and you, OP, are very welcome to sit right next to me on the bus, on the boat & on the monorail:hug: .

Nevermind deluxe or off site resort guests...I wish there was a way to ban sourpuss' & other buzz kills from my ride:sad2:

I really did think the busses were for resort guests only.

"Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Getting around the Walt Disney World Resort is easier than ever.
Relax, we've thought of everything!

Zip around by monorail, sail leisurely by boat or hop aboard a bus.
We'll get you to where ever the magic is calling. Complimentary
transportation throughout the Walt Disney World Resort is provided to
all Disney resort guests and Walt Disney World theme park ticket
holders. Included are the air conditioned motorcoaches, monorail
service between Epcot and the Magic Kingdom Parks, motor launches,
ferry boats, and limited water taxi service."

I stand corrected.;)

In the mornings they check for a park ticket or resort ID at the TTC to give guests an opportunity to go back to the TTC ticket windows and purchase tickets. There are a lot more ticket windows at the TTC then there are at guest relations at the MK. It just keeps the lines at all the windows evened out.

There have only been two times that I have been asked to show resort ID to get on transportation.

1) to get on the resort monorail at Magic Kingdom park closing. (They prefer day guests to get on the express monorail or ferry). Although if I had not been a resort guest and told them I had dinner reservations at GF or Poly, they probably still would have let me on.

2) to get on the small boat to the Poly/GF. Those boats don't hold that many, so they prefer day guests use the express monorail or ferry.

I guess one learning point from way back in this thread is that you can't get directly to the parks from DD. We were trying to figure out our schedule for this fall and one day DH and 2 of my DS's are going to go golfing. DS14 and I will be going to Epcot for the Aqua Seas tour. I was thinking that if they played at the Lake Buena Vista course, they could easily drop us at DD first and we could catch a bus over. Sounds like it may not be that easy and they should just play where they want and drop us at Epcot on the way.

Also, do you have to be using your ticket that day? We bought 10 day passes, but will be doing a couple "off" days during our trip like this (you don't need a ticket for that tour). As long as I have a ticket, which is still valid, I can still use the buses even if I'm not actually using a park admission that day, correct? We'd probably all meet up at one of the waterparks later - how hard is it to get from Epcot to a waterpark?

Thanks!

No need to give up your day at DD, it can easily be done pixiedust: The best way to go from DD to EPCOT is to take the TTC (Transportation & TIcket Center) bus from DD (every stop in WDW has a TTC bus) and then take the Epcot Monorail.

Sorry about saying Deluxe people, I certainly didn't mean it to be belittling or anything. When I said "some Deluxe people", I meant some people who typically stay at the Deluxe resorts. I did say some though and I stand by that part. I have read too many threads on the Dis with people fighting mad over the thought that someone staying at a value or offsite would even think of trying to get some of their perks. It just makes me feel a little sick when people try to infer that they are entitled to more than someone else. Not saying anyone on this thread actually feels that way..........

I guess we will just be parking at the TTC if we are going from one park to another. You can catch a bus from there to any park, right? There's still a chance I can talk my family into staying at Pop. If not, I am staying a few days after they leave and I will be staying onsite for sure.

Going back to your original post, yes you can get from DD to anywhere in the world. Grab the TTC (Transportation & Ticket Center) bus from DD and from the TTC you can get everywhere else, including a monorail to EPCOT. If you choose to walk on a little further you can grab the Polynesian Monorail to MK.

:goodvibes Have a magical trip:goodvibes

This is my opinon on off site guests using Disney buses. At times it was annoying & here is why. A few years ago when the Contemporary Resort would have their bus to Downtown Disney, it would only share with the TTC & those guests would get on from there was off site guests. How did I know they were off site guests? When going back to the Contemporary the bus would always stop 1st at the TTC & everyone but my family would get off the bus. So these people were obviously going to their cars, because at 10:30 & 11:00 PM the only guests who are there have to be off site guests going back to get their cars. What was annoying is sometimes we would have had to stand all the back from DTD & only got seats when everyone else got off at the TTC. Yes I know we could have waited for another bus, but the Downtown Disney - Contemporary bus takes forever, my family & I did not want to wait another 25-30 minutes for another one. The other thing that was annoying is if these off site guests had their own cars, why could they not drive them to Downtown Disney? It would save them a lot more time then leaving them at the TTC & taking the Disney bus back to get them. Thankfully the Contemporary bus now shares with the Polynesian & Grand Floridian, when going to Downtown Disney, this way we did not have off site guests taking our seats & if that sounds selfish & rude, sorry but that is the way I feel about this.

Also I don't remember reading anything in WDW books that says you need to have a valid park ticket to use WDW Transportation. All I remember reading is WDW Transportation is a free perk for onsite guests, so if that is what it's meant to be how can you call it that if off site guests can use WDW buses & etc? So I would like to see writen proof where it says you can use it with a valid park ticket, eventhough we all know bus drivers & CM's who let you on the Monorail never check for them.

Excuse me, but I beg to differ that all passengers on a TTC bus were offsite visitors. I can clearly recall on several occassions taking a bus that stopped at TTC when I was staying onsite. Sometimes I would get off at the TTC and walk to the Polynesian. Sometimes the bus would stop there on the way to the Contemporary or the Wilderness Lodge.

Such a broad assumption simply supports this argument

Here's your 'written proof' from Disney's own website - regarding Annual Passes
Every Premium Annual Pass provides: <snip> Convenient Walt Disney World® transportation - monorails, ferryboats, and motor coaches

Maybe there was the odd passenger who was a Polynesain guest & decided to walk back there from the TTC. However I still highly doubt that because if I have seen a whole bus load of people get off at the TTC at 11:00 PM on a few occasions expect my family & I, so I don't think they were onsite WDW guests.

Yes, maybe some people who stay at the Contemporary park at the TTC and are driving back there. Besides, if someone gets to the bus line before you, they are entitled to a seat, no matter where they are staying. Someone posted a response from Disney about bus privileges on page 3 that says that WDW ticket holders are able to use Disney transportation. I can't count the number of times I waited for another bus so I wouldn't have to stand. If you really don't want to stand, you could do the same. Or maybe you could just announce loudly "I am a Contemporary Resort guest, so if you are an offsite guest, kindly get your butt out of my seat, since I am paying a lot more than you to be at Disney!" Someone would probably move, dontcha think?;)

Marsha

Well then my recomendation is WDW should not advertise their transportation being for Resort guests, since it's obviosuly not true anymore.

What is not true? Resort guests may use the transportation. Ticket holders may as well. There is no need for WDW to discontinue 'advertising' that their transportation is for resort guests.

Oh, I'm sure that someone would move for CR Resort Fan 4 Life, Marsha

Yes, maybe some people who stay at the Contemporary park at the TTC and are driving back there.
Ok that does not make sense at all, because a Contemporary guest has no reason to park at the TTC & why would they since they have the Monorail right on the 4th floor which goes to the MK & to Epcot (once you change at Monorails at the TTC for the Epcot Monorail). Also they buses which go to MGM, AK & DTD, so once again I say I don't see why Contemporary guest would need to park at the TTC?

I am just saying in my opinion it's false advertising for WDW to say transporation is an exclusive use for on site guests, when they advertise it can be for anyone with park tickets, when some of those guests stay off site.

Also I would not be so stupid & tell someone to move because my family & I are Contemporary guests.

Well, you certainly can't speak for all Contemporary guests. There are surely cases where people who stay at the Contemporary would park at the TTC. Why would anyone who stays onsite park at the TTC, when they all have WDW transportation? I have read about many here at the Dis who do just that, because they don't like the buses, or have things offsite to do before or after they visit the parks. It would be more convenient, since the buses stop at the TTC first, and they would probably be a bit down the road before you got to the Contemporary.

Relax, I was just kidding about that, LOL

Does it say anywhere that the use of WDW transportation is an EXCLUSIVE privilege for resort guests? Maybe it says it is one of the privileges and it is, but it also a privilege afforded to ticket holders.

Your right that I can't speak for all Contemporary guests, however I was saying logically it did not make sense for them to park at the TTC. Also the Contemporary & the other Magic Kingdom Resorts do not stop at the TTC anymore & have not gone there for at least 5 years or more. Now there is a direct bus from MGM, AK & I assume DTD which has a direct bus to the TTC.
