...make your FP selection for the morning.

Just got back from a trip where we went to Epcot 3 times. The first day we had a fp for late afternoon. It started pouring and the ride was shut down for the rest of the night.

We got a fp for the next day. All that was left was evening. Sure enough, there were showers and thunder in the area so it shut down again. We were 3rd in the fp line, so we decided to wait it out. After an hour we gave up and went to the International Showcase, as it was by then 8:00 p.m.

Finally on our last day we got on. We were lucky though, because showers did role through and it was shut down at times.

So my advice if you are going during the summer and Test Track is one of your "must do" rides, is to schedule it for the morning. It rarely rains in the a.m., but those p.m. showers are unpredictable. They shut down the ride if it is actually raining, or if there is "thunder in the area" even if it is not raining.
Good luck everyone!

Also don't forget the single rider line. The SR time was posted at 20 minutes when we were there 2 weeks ago but we were able to board in less than 10 minutes. We did Test Track once as a FP+ and twice as single riders.

We waited in line maybe 20 minutes, 30 minutes tops during EMH. Also rode Soarin' during this time as well, (maybe 20 minutes tops)plus under the seas ride with no wait what so ever. We never had any fast passes for Epcot this trip. We just got back late last night. We also do night time EMH.

The single rider line is good in theory, but it doesn't work if the ride is closed, and it gets really long when the ride reopens. All the fast pass people who couldn't get in during the shut down can use their fast passes upon reopening. Due to the weather issues the shortest posted single rider time I saw was 30 minutes.

Since we wanted to ride Soarin and Test Track last week and you can't have a FP for both since they are in the same tier we used a different plan. We had luck going straight to Test Track at rope drop and got on within 15-20 min ...we then used our fast pass for Soarin since that one can have super long waits we thought this might be best to do and it did work for us. I do agree to always try for Test Track first thing either at rope drop or FP especially in the summer. because of the rainy afternoons..though those storms last week were not the typical afternoon rain showers ...those were massive storms.

~I totally agree with this! In our experiences -- Test Track is one of those rides that's always offline at the first sight of lightning! I prefer to ride Test Track at night & I'm so glad you got a chance ride it! I'm truly surprised by all of this rain in June. I'm used to the rain because we go in August! :goodvibes

So if your FP+ for TT is cancelled due to weather, will you get the email from Disney that it can be swapped for another tier 1 attraction? Or is your only option to wait and hope that TT comes back up and use your FP+ then?

This is why I will always choose a Soarin' FP over a Test Track FP. We just SR TT in the morning.

~Disney gives you a special FastPass+ that can be redeemed at any ride -- some guests have received this by email automatically -- while, others have had to ask for one. If I'm not mistaken you still can check back later and ride without having to wait standby -- but you have to inform the CM of what happened earlier! Have fun! :cool1:

As I was making my FP+ ressies, I thought of this exact issue. I'm having fun guessing when it's raining by looking at the MDE app and seeing what is temporarily closed every day.
