If You Like To Complain About Food Prices at WDW...

Cedar Point is no better. Their food is way more expensive than WDW. To buy a cheeseburger and fries it is $10 not including a drink and it is subpar. We were at Kings Island last week and a funnel cake is $5.99 for a plain one. Goofyinohio is correct Cedar Fair is ruining Kings Island. We ended up leaving Kings Island to eat because it would have been way too expensive for the 5 of us to eat.

I frequent WDW, King's Island and Cincinnati Reds FREQUENTLY so I'll put my two cents in.....

WDW food is great IMHO. It is a little more pricey, but all in all the selections is great and the quality is really good. If it's not, they will do something about it. Most other places really don't care if you like the quality of the food. WDW does. You get what you pay for!

KI food is o.k., but there's a lot of "local flavor". You can get Skyline Chili, LaRosa's pizza, Greater's Ice Cream, etc. It's not usually as good as the "real stuff" though. Just to compare, the LaRosa's family deal at KI (one large one topping pizza, family salad and four drinks) is $34.99. I recently ordered LaRosa's delivered at our hotel and got two large one topping pizzas and a family salad for around $28.00.

The advantage with KI over many other theme parks is Fields Ertel Road is about a mile down the way. We "stamp out" and drive down there for the same food for a ton of savings if we eat. It's a convenient drive. THey haVe converted the Montgomery Inn restaurant at KI into a buffet. It's not bad and has a huge variety, but it's still $15 for adults.

As for the Reds games, they allow you to bring in almost anything. Bottles must be non alcoholic, plastic and sealed . We bring in our own peanuts, chips, bottled water, etc. I have a Reds soft sided cooler that fits the MLB size standards and keep it stocked. Rarely do we buy food, just an occasional ice cream treat. Beers are $6.50 for the plastic bottles. Two weeks ago DH and I stopped at Red Squirrel and bought two deli sandwiches and carried them in! We also have brought in McD!!! A slice of LaRosa's pizza is $4 and a whole cheese pizza is $15 at the ballpark.

I have been to many MLB and NFL stadiums around the country and have found that the smaller market teams tend to be more flexible because they are just happy you are there! The Atlanta Braves scandel was because they tried to keep people from bringing ANYTHING in. That shouldn't have held true for the poor woman who was carrying in baby formula. HELLO!:scared1: Let's use some common sense!! That's why they repealed the "ban"!

For those of you who see the prices at Holiday World you have to realize that it is in the middle of no where! They take pride on service and value because of the location. It's clean and a great value for a family to go. That's just the midwest for you. Everything costs less here and it shocks people who are from the left and right coasts!

Dh and I often comment on how people in the park are complaining about the food prices must not get out too often! We dropped a small fortune feeding our family at the NYS Fair! I went to an educators' conference in Rye, NY and paid $6 for a tuna sandwich! :sad2: No chips...just a roll, a little wilted lettuce and some dry tuna. It is so unfortunate that families walk through the park spending the day complaining about everything! They miss all the fun! :flower3:

Well said, I don't think people know about bringing your own food into Reds games. Have you had any problems with the employees serving food at K.I ?

I live minutes from KI and I refuse to go because it is so dirty and expensive. We had seasons passes 2 years ago and we would still drop $40 eating lunch and getting a treat and its just me and my DD. We just went to the Cincinnati Zoo last week ( which I love anyway) and a bottle of pop was $4 if I remember right. What?? It ticked me off but at least its clean and nice and not offensive to just go to.
I never complain about WDW Cs prices. I think the kids meals prices are good and I also think you get a decent amount of food for the adult portions. I dont mind paying $2 for water or a pop either.

I was at Kings Island today. The place is a ripoff for food. We got in the car and went to McDonalds to eat.

I have not had any problems with the employees at KI except for they are so apathetic, which holds true for some of the Reds venues as well. It takes them five minutes to make an ice cream cone! :lmao: They always have on gloves though which thrills us.....

I think Cedar Fair has cleaned up KI, personally. I have noticed more people around sweeping, etc. They have refinished several portions of the walkways. However, not like WDW. I have seen supervisors at WDW carry a broom and pan......there's nothing wrong with that. I see "suits" walking around that will bend over and pick up things that some lazy person just drops on the sidewalk/street.

I thought the food at Hershey Park was more expensive than WDW. I was really surprised at Hershey's prices and I believe WDW prices are more reasonable than some other parks.

We said the same thing! The soda bottles are more at Hershey and so is the food. We almost fell over at the price of food at Sesame Place. We always say the Disney is better priced than many of the other places.

Yeah, the prices at Six Flags, Hershey and even a Met game seem more expensive that WDW. Even the Bronx Zoo. We are members and go there a lot and think, wow, this will be a nice inexpensive way to spend the day because we don't have to pay admission each time, but by the time we leave there, between snacks and a meal for everyone, we've spent $100 easy.

We made the same comments when we were at WDW last week! We thought that $2 for a bottle of water or Coke was a bargain, compared to Cedar Point and Kings Island. (Heck- it is $1.49 at a gas station here in Indiana!) Really, the CS prices at WDW are not that bad- we thought the kids meals in particular were a good value. And I will take WDW food over CP or KI food (and service) ANYTIME! If only WDW was only 3 hours away too........

Heck, sometimes DD and I share the kid's chicken. It's good and a large portion too!

What was funny the last time we went to Holiday World was to see Pat Koch, the owner, on her hands and knees pulling someone's chewed up gum from underneath a park bench. That's service ;)

Last year during our vacation we spent a day in Busch Garden Williamsburg. I was pleasantly surprised at the food, much better than our local amusement park. We had lunch in "Germany", and got the Farmer's Plate: 1/4 chicken, 1/2 ribs, sausage, hash brow, ..., for 14$ (shared with DBF). It was very good, much better than burger and fries, and price was surprising. "Single" plates were like 8$, still not bad.

And I don't know about you, but I don't mind spending a little more on zoo food... caring for all those animals is expensive!

I don't think the prices are high at WDW at all. Counter service at the CBR food court was reasonable and delicious!! A plank of salmon, with a generous scoop of smashed potatoes and green beans, with a cornmeal biscuit for $9? Totally worth it, IMO. Sometimes I would get the kids meal, chicken leg, with potatoes and veggie and biscuit for $4. Still a good lunch, good price. Can't beat it, IMO.

As I always point out, though, those places are pretty much one day venues. They nickel and dime you because they won't see you the next day.

WDW sees many visitors for multiple days. Many people actually LIVE on WDW food for the duration of their trips. I believe that alone should be a reason that their standards should be higher and their prices lower than a ball park or amusement park venue.

That's true, and at Six Flags New England, probably like most other Six Flags, is a complete RIP OFF when you buy food and drink, but gotta remember that it is also only seasonal and they need to make a year's worth of money in about 5 months.

That isn't necessarily true.

Holiday World (in southern Indiana) is only open for 5 months out of the year and they offer free unlimited soft drinks, free sunscreen, free parking, and we can feed a family of 4 for under $20.

I think Holiday World is unique in this department due to its location. The other parks mentioned are competing with other tourist attractions by and large. There isn't much competition for Holiday World in that local area as far as tourism. Six Flag Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville is the closest. What a terrible tragedy they had yesterday at SF KK. I pray for the family of the injured girl.

That is true to some degree, but Holiday world is beginning to pull in crowds from all over, mainly due to the incredible value they offer. When they started the free drink thing, their attendance went through the roof, and it is increasing every year. Even though there are Six Flags parks in Louisville and St. Louis, there are people who drive from those places to go to Holiday World. I think it says a lot when people are willing to drive 2 or 3 hours tho go to Holiday World when they have a Six Flags in their own back yard.
