If you have only ever done 4 days and more, can you ever do a 3 day?

I've only been on 7nights and the soonest is 2 weeks (EBPC). I would only do a 3night if it was paired with a b2b OR a cruise + land. This is coming from someone that has to fly to either California or Florida for departures (and that would have a Disney land portion). So a 3 night is not worth the airfare if it is not coupled with something else.

So, alone? No, no I would not for the pure fact that airfare would make it not worth the 'deal'.
If I lived in Florida? HECK YEAH! :D

I might consider a short Disney cruise if it left from our home port, but no way would I fly across the country to do 3 day cruise. We've done shorter 3-4 day coastal cruises on other lines and they just aren't the same. Not nearly as relaxing or enjoyable IMHO.

Why no

It made it seem like it was actually just part of a longer cruise (that's the type we like), with a 2 day port call between the 4 night & the B2Bs. There's no way I would do just a 3 night cruise. Or even a 3/4 night B2B.[/QUOTE]
why not the b2b? Is it the transition day?

We have done quick 3 nights when that's all we can fit into our schedule. One was just DH and I. We ate at Palo twice, Remy once, spent most of our time at the adult pool or in the other adult areas. Didn't get off in Nassau. It was very relaxing! Would another night have been good? Absolutely! But if that's all you can do, it can still be a fantastic vacation.

We started out cruising the 4-day Wonder. For years, we only sailed the Wonder because the Magic had the 7 day cruises, while the Wonder took care of the 3 and 4 day cruises. 4 days were perfect for us. Two stops and a sea day. We even sailed on the Dream when it first started sailing. Too big, too crowded. We did not like it, compared to the Wonder.

THEN.....in 2012, the Magic sailed out of NYC. We lived in MA at the time. A disney ship 4 hours from us? NO WAY! We were on it. 8 glorious nights. 4 days at sea, with the same itinerary as a 4 days cruise from PC. My kids were happy that we finally got to sail on the Magic. We now had 3 out of the 4 ships under our belt.

We will be on the Magic again this October out of NYC for a 7 night cruise. My 2 oldest children are adults now (18, 20) and it is going to be the last Disney trip I pay for them. So next year, as I am drooling over which cruise to book sans children, I like the price of the 3 day Dream. I just don't know if I could ever do a 3 day cruise without feeling like something is missing. Something would be missing...the day at sea. I need that day at sea to feel like a vacation. Do people feel rushed on a 3 day?

I'm probably going to book a 3/4 day b2b...but it got me thinking...if you sail the 3 day cruises, is it because you haven't ever been on a longer cruise to know what you're missing? Or is it truly possible to enjoy a 3 day cruise while knowing the longer cruises?

We have done 4-day, 7-night, 10-night, 14-night and 15-night cruises on the Disney ships. Our first cruise was on the Wonder for 4-days. Then we did all longer cruises for years after until 2012 when we finally sailed on the Dream and did another 4-day. After all those gloriously long nights on a ship, I found the 4-day frustrating for only one reason -- it was a new and bigger ship and I didn't think 4-days was enough to explore it all. When we went on the Fantasy two years later, I loved having the extra days to check out the ship and the new look. However, that all being said, I think having done all the variation of cruises and all the ships, it might make it easier now for us to do a 3-day simply because we know all the bells and whistles and what to do and what not to do. If a 3-day was all we could afford, I wouldn't hesitate to go.

I just don't care for the short cruises to start with. I found on our 4 night cruise (and I'm figuring it's the same for a 3 night) that there were just too many people trying to cram everything into the limited time they have onboard. The general pace around the ship just seemed frantic at all times. And you'd get that twice on a 3/4 night B2B. That and the turn around day isn't all that fun - you still have get up at O-dark-thirty, and dress and leave the ship. Waiting in the terminal can be up to 2 hours before being allowed back on. And you have to (try to) break in a whole new set of cruisers.

I will be on the Dream next weekend for a 3-night, but I know that it isn't going to be what our PC was. It is for a birthday trip, so it is what it is. As far as the b2b, we did one 3/4. It wasn't my favorite. I would rather do a standard 7-night.

I can't see us ever doing a three night unless it is a just before a four night cruise. We love the sea day(s), the more the better!

I have only been on 2 cruises a 7 night and a 14 night. I really don't think I could do a 3 night or even a 4 night cruise. If we lived near a port that might help but not much.

I'm another fortunate one who lives within a days' (an 8-ish hour day but still) drive to the port. We are FL residents and retired military so sometimes we do 3 days with good rates, or on our most recent one, since we knew it would be short, decided on staying concierge (so we could use the sun deck, dine privately, eat multiple bags of popcorn and have decent coffee for DH). Our approach for the short cruise was Total Relaxation so nothing but Palo brunch booked (which was cancelled when DH forgot pants and nice shoes), no goals, just go with the flow and do what we wanted, when we wanted with no requirements but the muster drill and being back on the ship before it left Castaway Cay. Overall, while still short, it was nice. I think something about having cruised many times previously and knowing we have 2 future cruises booked takes away from some of the "I must do..." mentality (for me).

If it was the only option I'd do a 3 night but I've done one before and it just doesn't feel long enough. Unless there's no option I go for the 7 night+ cruises nowadays.

In my case, I often cannot take a full week away from home because we own a business and have a lot of pets. The added cost of petsitting runs over $100./night. When we close our business, we don't make any money and our clients don't like it when our business is closed. I am completely thrilled to get any cruise, even a 2 nighter out of my home port. When we semi-retire and have less pets, we'll do the totally awesome longer trips. We are nowhere near those days, yet.

Edit to address thread title: I've done 7 night cruises and can easily do 4 nighter or shorter cruises.

I sure hope so. We have a 3 night cruise booked next May with 4 days at WDW after. I can't get a lot of time off from work or I would do more. We are doing the 3 night cruise to see how we like Disney Cruise Lines. We have done 7 nights on other lines so we want to compare. I like the idea of taking Nassau as a sea day and seeing what the ship has to offer. I am glad to see a lot of people have enjoyed the 3 night cruise.

3-nights are so great for a quick weekend away or a last minute booking. Like someone else said on this thread, 3 is better than 0! I do miss a sea day on a 3-night, and I also kinda feel it's over before it gets going. I don't necessarily feel rushed, but I don't feel it's enough to time to really settle in. I have done 3, 4, and 7 nights, and I have a 14 night, 4 night, and 3 night booked over the next 7 months :) So yes, I still think the 3 nights are great and worth repeating.

I prefer 3 nights. We are DVC members, so staying Sunday through Wednesday at WDW is less points than weekends. So I like going to the parks, and then getting on the ship on Thursday and enjoying a 3 night cruise. They are nicer for those of us who have been on the the cruise before because you know what you like, what you do not want to miss, and you get a day at Castaway Cay (that is the best part of any cruise). We are doing a 4 night this year because my daughter wants to join us, and so we have to drive and need time to get there and back at the start and end of the cruise. Otherwise, if it were just my husband and I, we would be going on a 3 night so we could go to WDW before sailing.

We are going on our first Disney cruise in less than 2 weeks and it's a last minute 3 night on the Dream. We have never booked a 3 night but we wanted something short, because we have a 7 day in September (RCL Oasis of the Seas) and two weeks later in October (RCL Anthem of the Seas), we have a 5 day. We've already done a land vacation this year, so we are running a little low on days. I'm just happy that we are going on 3 cruises in a month and half!

We've done many 7 nighters, and early this year we booked a 3 night Dream trip a month before sailing, with one night before at WDW (with our DVC points.) It was a good price (for DCL), and we were able to go over a weekend to minimize days off from work. It was really short, but because it was relatively last minute, it was really fun. We also stayed on the ship on Nassau day to enjoy it more. I'm sure we'll do it again eventually. :)
