Rent a car for our final day to get to airport,or grab a shuttle van? Cost will be the same,wwyd? Our flight doesn't leave till 7:15 p.m.,so we have lots of time to enjoy ourselves.....would the car make it easier or more complicated? My dh enjoys driving so that's not an issue.... Would the shuttle give us more relaxing time?.

In your case I'd probably go with the shuttle van. That way you don't have to spend time picking up and returning the car.

we usually rent a car, but for the whole trip.

it is easy to toss luggage in the trunk & head to enjoy the parks on the last day, knowing you don't have to stop back to resort for MDE (or shuttle). fyi, you don't really save much in the way of 'time' at MK, factoring in need to transfer from parking lot to park.

I wouldn't rent a car for the sole purpose of stretching your last day, but it's your vacation, only you can decide. With the timing of your flight depature, if you only want to pay for a daily rental rate, plan accordingly as to pickup time.

DME, I assume that's the shuttle you're talking about, picks you up 3 hrs prior to flight time. It gets you to the airport about 2.5 hrs prior to your flight. Even if you drive, you should still get to MCO 2 hrs prior....so you're gaining 30-45 mins. I guess that if you rented a car. You could drive to the park, with your carry on bags in the truck, and then drive to the airport right from the park.
So, if your flight is at 7:15pm, DME will pick you up around 4:15. So if you're at a park, you need to leave there by 3:15 in order to get back to the resort to get the bus. If you rent a car, you would have to leave the park by 4:30ish. That would get you back to MCO by 5:00 to return the car. You should be at the terminal around 5:15ish, depending on how long it takes to return the car.

Doing to that way will give you maybe an addtl hour in the park. But remember, that's rush hour...you could run into a lot of traffic.

Can't be referring to DME, they said the cost would be the same between shuttle & rental car.

OP, between the two choices, I'd do shuttle. I'm all for letting someone else drive! I would seriously consider have a rental for more than just the last day though. Maybe a side trip to Universal, Sea World, or the beach?

thanks for the tips.... it is from the Dolphin, so we need to pay for a shuttle- and since paying for parking is not what I want, I think the shuttle might be best...either that or we will just decide last minute and grab a cab to the airport,since the cost isn't too different for 3 people- if we want the shuttle, can we book it same day?
