If you got Summer Awaken deal (?)

Silly question...

Has anyone who got the summer awaken discount chosen not to use the special BB8 Magic Band...?

I'm getting it for DH, but the kids already had their favorite colors picked out. I feel like I *should* get the BB8 since it's a special one, but I was really leaning towards red (my favorite color) or purple (new). Disney is a rare trip for us, so it's not like I can just say "next time"...(yes, I know it's just a MB!).

im a magicband collector but as a passholder, i just couldn't justify paying close to $800 for the two of us to go in the summer for these magicbands lol

Do the kids like star wars or action things? it's an effect bands so things like the ticket turn style and fastpass will light up and make star wars noises. It can really light up a child with excitement that they are special because their band did something special.

It can also have the opposite effect and they always need one on future trips and they aren't always available to buy.. It's also the only way to get this band so I'm sure after your trip if the kids don't want to keep them, they should have a pretty good ebay resell value for a collector of bands.

Go with whatever you want. And ask the kiddos if they would rather have a BB8 instead. If not, just use the previously picked color.

Kids got BB8, and my wife got a pink band. I got purple - I've been waiting for a long time for that, so I'm not passing it up!

It's just my DH & I but we are getting red (for him) & purple (for me). We aren't big Star Wars fans (sorry!!) so figured we'd rather have MB's in colors we actually like.

I would like to update the magicband thread.. Can anyone offer a description of how you get the band, if or what you can customize? it's the first effects bands free to resort guests and I'm not staying on that discount this summer. I'd like to get information on it in the posts.

I am interested to find out what special things the BB8 MB can do. We all choose this for our upcoming trip. I guess we will have to wait until May 30th by the earliest to find out since that's the first day of this special promotion period.

Wish I had your strength, I'm the not-so-proud owner of 4 x 2 day tickets I don't need just to get them...trying to look at the silver lining of getting the 5th one free for my 1yo, lol!

It's a 2 day ticket purchase under the Awaken Summer discount to get it & appears the same as/ along with the solid colored bands for the name customization on MDE. The effects (per KtP) are supposed to be:
Magic Kingdom: Music from Mickey’s new stage show
Epcot: Music from “In Summer”
Hollywood Studios: music from the Imperial march, BB-8 sounds, or TIE Fighter sounds.
Animal Kingdom: Rivers of Light music
Blizzard Beach: Sounds of Kristoff and Sven
But won't be confirmed until after the effects are turned on, the May 4/5 ones weren't on the first day so doubt we'll know for sure until after May 30

Interesting, I wonder if it's going to work like the light saber bands where the mickey head also changes to different colors than normal.

Why wouldn't you get the LE BB8 band then just buy a plain color band? How could you give that up?

I'm guessing it will do some sort of colors, think most/all of the LE bands do, so with being the first to do different sounds for the various parks, I'd be shocked if it didn't do lights too...I'm almost glad I don't get mine until July because I've got a bunch of other LEs to test this May trip & they might get sick of me at the touch point/FP locations - I'm going to be setting off all kind of fun colors/sounds, lol!!
