If you could design a resort?

I LOVE all the ideas on this thread!!!

10 year old Granddaughter is a Cheerleader, and loves football (and unless PC is open when her group comes down, that is where they are staying)! Sports is different than Villians for her, and Princess for him. Sports is big in both their lives. However, if the buliding was actually just a "girls" cheerleading building, I don't think the 8 year old boy would be happy..unless told that was the only way we were going to Disney. I also think he would be better with a cheer building, than he would be with a Princess building.

Emphasis on "sports is big in both their lives". But you have to agree that a "football" themed building IS more for boys than girls. Boys and cheerleaders... that's a limited amount of girls you know. Almost every boy I know (atleast younger ones before they are old enough to actually PLAY it LOL) love sports themed stuff. But not all girls do. ASSp IS more themed for boys and sports lovers. Do you not think there would be MORE people interested in Disney classics, princesses and princes, etc at Walt Disney World than people interested in SPORTS related stuff? Come on...
It's great- don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that if they can have a sports themed resort they can have one more themed towards Disney stuff- even if it seems gender related because football is primarily gender related in my opinion. You have to agree that when it comes to YOUNG children (not meaning pre-teens and teenagers/etc) that there are far more boys that would enjoy sports related themes and football themed buildings/etc than girls. So why couldn't it go the "other" way where more girls would enjoy it than boys- if they can (and have) done that for boys?

(ps. there could be buildings like someone else mentioned with the "male" persuasion touched on also- all the prince's, Peter Pan, Pooh (not as "girly" as a princess), Big Bear, etc. I was just commenting that if they had a Princess building it would probably never have a problem being filled. Much like CRT. :) )

Just asked my dd11 for her idea, this is her answer:

The Princess Palaces! themed around all the different disney princesses with some sort of cinderella's castle theme to the main pool.

Pop Century apparently will have character icons - not the big ones at the end of the resort buildings, but in some of the courtyards, representing Disney movies of the decade to which those particular buildings are dedicated.

First of all, Disney is in the money making business. So any ideas we want them to listen to, has got to make money for a wide range of people, ages. Assuming a lot more than little boys and girls go to Disney..Sports has been a big money maker for them. Lot of adults like sports and stay there. Lots of teens stay there, and watching the cheerleaders practice on touchdown field is something that happens regularly.

A princess hotel, while cute, is a "girly thing" in my opinion...much more than a sports building. Maybe I'm wrong and a lot of little boys will be happy to stay in a Cinderella building (make it a cool castle with fighting men on top, and they'll love it!)...but if that was the case, I think Disney would have had one up already.
My grandson was not happy with the Pochahontas breakfast they used to have (even though "John" was there babbling away), and would be even less happy staying with Cinderella. To be fair, my gradndaughter would not want to stay in a Villian building....although I would love to see a villians breakfast to take him to..right now we stick to the pirate trip.

I definately think motels with the classic Disney would be big sellers..look at movies! But they need to make larger rooms, and still keep the cost down for large families. They'll get their money back in tickets and food.

I also like the idea of an adults only resort. Something luxurious and low key. A great respite from the chaos of the parks at the end of the day.

My Ultimate WDW Resort would have to be centered around an English Manor. They already have a Southern Mansion themed resort in Dixie Landings, why not it's English counterpart?

Name: Toad Manor (after Mr. Toad)
Theme: After Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, English Countryside, and foxhunting of course.
Type: Deluxe
Location: near Epcot

It would also include a themed pool, and a small football pitch.

I also love the idea of a castle hotel. All they have to do is go to Germany and France to find excellent models to choose from. It be named Chataeu . . .
