I'm about to put money down on a cruise 18 months away. Dh is not convinced yet--especially since it is so far off (but you people Understand why I am doing it.)

Anyway, if we had to cancel sometime before the cancellation deadline, how would we get the money back? Is it is Hassle? Does it take long? Is it a check or a return to the credit card? Thanks.

Disney let's you book 2 years in advance and you really do get a better price if you book early... :goodvibes Seems like Disney prices go up as the cruise approaches.

You can cancel anytime up till final payment with no penalities. By then you would know whether you where going or not??? :confused3

I like to book early and then you can make payments whenever you want and get it paid off a little at a time.

So I say book it and then you have something to look forward too.

Look mine is almost here now.... 5 months away!! I can't believe how fast time flies.... :cloud9:

You can get your deposit returned in full as long as you cancel before the final payment is due. It will be returned in the way it was made, if you charged it, it will be charged back to the credit card. If you paid cash or check, a check will be issued. It usually takes about a week to 10 days after canceling a cruise to get the money back on the CC Card, at least that's how long it's taken DCL to credit me back, and I've cancelled two cruises.

if you cancel, payment is returned in the same form in which you paid. If you pay by credit card, it's a refund back to the credit card.

As for how long it takes, it can take anywhere from a few days to 3 billing cycles (3 months) to see the credit posted on your credit card statement.

3 months?? That's a long time!
Thanks for the help, all of you. Hopefully I won't have to cancel.

Can I ask a similar question?

I think I've just about talked my hubby into doing a cruise but now working on him as to what category of stateroom we can afford. If we book a category 4, would we be able to downgrade nearer the time if there was still availability and would we be charged for this change?

It is not difficult at all to get a refund. You are very smart for booking so far in advance, the Disney Cruises are very popular and the closer it comes to sailing the more expensive it becomes and the fewer staterooms there are to purchase.

It can take a few cycles to receive the refund credit on your credit card statement or to receive a check, if you paid your depsoit by check. The refund will always be given the way in which it was received.

It all depends on how close to the cruise you try to make the change. Any change that is made within 60 days of sailing is usually subject to a service charge as most documents have been issued at that time. Anytime prior to 60 days and there will be no change. Again, it would be a matter of what is available at the time you choose to make the change. Also, be aware that the pricing for staterooms changes so that the price you were originally may no longer apply.

The price tier that you booked at stays with the reservation. In other words, even if the current price is higher, the pricing level that was in place when you booked the cruise carries over to any room changes. :flower:
