Can you later down size to a studio if few people decide to come? Or can you only get a studio if there are some open at that time.

OK thanks! We anywhere from 2 to 6 wanting to go in October, and I just want to make sure there is enough room. But I hate to use up the points on a 2 bedroom if we didn't end up needing it. Oh well. Thanks again!

The algorithm may prioritize the wait list over a modification. Just a guess.

I would think it is because switching to the studio from a 2BR is a new reservation. It would be unfair that you automatically get a studio especially if the home resort priority was used to book the 2BR and later the studio is booked at the 7 month mark without giving other members an equal chance at getting the studio after you cancelled the 2BR. Even during the home resort priority period you would be blocking other owners for your resort the change to get the same studio in a reservation. Otherwise people would be booking a 2BR lockoff just in case the family or friends come with them for the vacation.

Well I guess that was what I wanted to do. Book a 2BR in case family and friends decided to join us.

Why not just book a studio and a one bedroom separately and see if they can be the "lockoff" unit? Obviously, studio under one name, one bedroom under another name, that sort of thing.

Booking a studio and a 1 BR will be more points, and no way to make sure they are a lock-off pair or even in the same building/floor.

Exactly. If you book a 2BR, you have a 2BR...you can't modify it down to a 1BR or a studio at a later date without cancelling and rebooking. If you could do this, everyone could just book a 2BR at 11 or 7 months and then decide on a studio, 1BR or 2BR by the 30-day holding period. That could potentially leave a lot of rooms unbooked and a lot of owners "blocked out".
