If you are short a point or two besides borrowing from the next use year could you pay MS for the extra point? Or no? If so, what would they charge?

Can only borrow and/or bank once, correct?

I'll never get this stuff straight! EGADS!!!

Nope, can't rent an extra point directly from MS.

I would go ahead and borrow that extra point from next year. You can borrow as many times as we need (if you have the points), but once borrowed (or banked) they can not be returned to their original years.

You can also bank multiple times within the banking deadlines restrictions.

I think you were thinking of the transfering IN or OUT rules. I believe that this rule has changed to unlimited in OR out in a year but only iin ONE direction.

I went through the exact same thing last year. I had to borrow one point to complete a ressie. It bugged me to no end.

-Just to let you know, I'm over it now.

Good luck.......

Guess this would be another good reason to have a very good friend also be a DVCer....of course, you then run the risk of becomming a point sponge. :)

Are members allowed to do that for each other ??? Loan or borrow a point or two from each other ? How would that be done ?

Relax, I'm not looking to borrow any points :-)

i think it would have to be actually transferred between accounts.

and then once you transfer 1 point into your account in your 2003 use year, you can never transfer any points OUT of your account during that same use year.
you could transfer points out in your 2004 use year thought. but then you wouldn't be able to transfer any points IN for your 2004 use year.

so, i think it would be a better option to borrow 1 point than to restrict your transferring options just 'cause you needed an extra point.

If it looks like you will be a point or two short every year, I'd do one of these:

1. Add on points. Always the first option for any DVC-infected person! :)

2. Borrow a point or two every year and then every 10th year or so stay for one less night and get caught back up. (Argh! This would be painful, even only once a decade!)

3. If you usually stay somewhere besides OKW....then book your vacation into OKW one year. This alone will make you point healthy for several years, you won't have to cut any vacations short, and you'll get those nice big rooms. Much better option than #2.

Uh.....we went for Option #1.

I believe you can transfer in all you want, it is the outbound that cause the problem.

We always borrow from the next use year, got some extra park passes that way!

As others have pointed out, you can transfer in OR out within a given year. Not both. If you "transfer out" in 2003 you cannot "transfer in" in 2003. When your 2004 use year rolls around you have the choice again. Can't do both within a given use year.

Halle is referencing the free park passes given to some OKW owners as a purchase incentive. This option ended the end of 1999. By borrowing 2000 use year points you could get extra stays in 1999 and therefore passes with the stays.
