If we show up at our ADR with less people

What is the Disney rule on this and what is the general perception on this...

Due to a recently diagnosed health issue my parents may not be able to join us on our Nov trip. They will not know until very close to the trip. I just changed there reservation from a package to a room only so they would have longer to cancel. We have multiple ARDs that include them. At this point I can not re-book them for the correct #, I would never get availability.

If we show up at our ADR with 2 less people is it a big deal? We have ADRs with them for O'hana, Ragland Road and Fantasmic! Dining Package. Does it make a difference for those that require cc to hold the ADR?

I feel bad, like I might be keeping people from being able to get ADRs. But we have ADRs for 10 people and only 8 would be showing up, so I don't know if that would really open things up for anyone else.

TIA

I don't know Disney's policy about this, but I wouldn't worry too much to be honest. You don't know what's going to happen. And I'd be willing to guess that if you let the cast member know that your parents unexpectedly fell ill and could not join you, they will understand.

You're not going to be a no-show... it's just 8 instead of 10 people.

I was just getting ready to ask this same question! We are supposed to be heading down in 2 days with a group of 6...DH, DS, DD, and my parents. My father has been suffering from back pain for about a week and on Friday he was diagnosed with a disc problem. This morning, the pain was so bad that they headed to the ER and are now on their way to visit ortho. There's no way he's making this trip...luckily, they have a RO reservation so they aren't losing a tremendous amount of $$.

We have a reservation scheduled for all six of us at Tusker House before the park opens. I don't want to give up my early time slot (I enjoy having the chance to take Tree of Life pics without everyone in the background) and the website lists the earliest available at 9:40 for a party of 4. Should I keep my time slot and just say that only 4 of us were able to make it due to an emergency medical condition?

We just had this happen last week - my parents didn't come on the trip with us as planned and there was only one ressie I couldn't change from 6 to 4 because of availability. When we arrived, I informed there was only 4 due to a last minute change and was told no problem and we were seated at a table for 4.

It's always easier to show up with fewer people than try and add more after the reservation is made so always make it for the maximum number of people who will be at the table. When you get to the restaurant just let the CMs at the podium know there are now only xyz number of people in your party. It will not be a problem.

If it is a restaurant with a credit card guarantee you will NOT be charged for the missing people as long as at least one person shows up for the reservation.
