If we can DREAM it, we can do it! ..... another 30 day vacation Update 02/07

My reply was lost!

Great update!! The food on the Dream is amazing, isn't it?!! you will never go hungry crusing with Disney!

Loved your fishextender gifts, very creative cruisers!! it was so much fun when we particpated in our FE in 2011.

Sounds like you had a perfect and relaxing day :)

I hate it, when my computer "eats" updates or replies.

There is too much yummy food on those ships! ;) I am working on an update that is very heavy on food ..... and it was yummy to say the least. :thumbsup2

We were pretty lucky with our FE exchange friends. There were a lot of very creative people on board. :goodvibes

Karin...Rachel & I are also off for Spring break/Passover/Easter week. We had Passover at my house last night and Rachel & I were up Sun/Mon until the wee hours of the morning preparing, we almost saw the sun come up. Rachel did all the cooking & baking while I cleaned up. We had 15 people over. Now she & I can relax for the next 7 days.

Love your door decorations, great job Tom!! :thumbsup2 Cute fish extender gifts too. I'm drooling over the food pictures and I am still full from all the food and leftovers I just ate. Rachel & I loved the lobster ravoili, Scott not so much, Rachel just had to eat his. Of course, love your pictures, brings back memories. One day when we cruise again, I'll have to convince Howie to get a veranda.

Wow! 15 people! I would not know where to put them. :rotfl2: It must have been quite a night doing all that cooking, baking and cleaning up. :thumbsup2

Tom is always in charge of door decorations and he has come up with some really nice and cute ideas for our summer cruises and even the Med cruise next year. :thumbsup2

Elaine, you NEED to get a veranda room. Nothing more relaxing than looking out onto the ocean with a nice beverage in hand and saying goodbye to the day in a very relaxed way. I can watch the waves for hours. :goodvibes

Day 15, August 25

Castaway Cay – Day 1 - Part 1

Today was going to be the first of three Castaway Cay days.
As we always do on Castaway Cay days, we had ordered room service breakfast and were up early so we could get ready before it arrived. When we had first gotten up, I had walked out onto the balcony and we could see Castaway Cay in the distance. When breakfast arrived at 7.30am Captain Gus had already turned the DREAM around and was positioning her to get into the dock.

We took our breakfast tray outside on the veranda

and were starting to enjoy the coffee and tea and orange juice, Tom had a

Bagel with crème cheese and a fresh fruit bowl, while I happily munched my

Croissants with some jam. All the time while we were sitting outside enjoying the food, the DREAM moved backwards and forwards. There was buoy right opposite our balcony and it seemed that the ship was just moving back and forth. After a while we looked over the veranda walls and could see that whenever the Captain manoeuvred her backwards, the ship was drifting close to rocks. Since we were not moving much, we went to hand out our Fish Extender gifts and when we came back to our stateroom we still hadn’t moved much.

Finally three hours after the first attempt to dock, the Captain informed everyone that he had finally been able to dock. He apologized for it taking so long, but the strong currents had made it very hard and he had been determined to get us there, but it had taken its time.
After his announcement, all the Mickey Whistles were blown and about half an hour later guests were allowed to get off, first time ever without key cards being swiped! When we made it downstairs there were still lines to get off the ship, but they moved fast. We walked right over to the trams,

but there were just too many people waiting for the next one, so we walked over to the shops,

checked them out and over to the Serenity Bay tram stop. There were already a few people waiting, but it didn’t take long for the tram to come around and off we went. When we arrived at Serenity Bay a minute later, our stateroom host was already waiting for us. We signed in, then hopped onto the golf cart and were taken to our Cabana.

To be continued ............

That is a Captain who doesn't give up easily for his guests! WTG, Captain Gus! :cheer2:

Castaway Cay is beautiful!! I am so sorry I will not see it....but so grateful to enjoy it through your photos and TRs! ::yes::

I reread that one part over and over. Went back a few sentences, and reread again. Surely my eyes are playing tricks on me. 3 HOURS?! Wow and Yikes! Im at a lost for words. :confused3
Awesome update and pics. As always, enjoying your report.

Wow, three hours to "park" the ship ;)

Good for the captain for not giving up!

Problem was that while we did not have the rain, we were running into Hurricane Isaac and I guess that is what caused Captain Gus the difficulties. He got a lot of VERY positive comments for being persistant and getting the job done! :thumbsup2

We love Captain Gus! Not only does he NOT give up, he also loves his Mickey whistles, which makes yours truly, truly happy. :rotfl2:

Christine, CC is soooooooo beautiful and since you are not going to visit yourself, I promise to take MANY, MANY photos, just for you! :goodvibes

Yip, THREE long hours and Captain Gus made it in the end. We were hit by Hurricane Isaac (third hurricane that we sailed through) and I think that caused all the currents.
Captain Gus was the hero of the day, that day! Especially since he decided to forego the screening of KTTW cards and to add on another hour to our time at CC. :thumbsup2

Wow...three hours to dock. That is one dedicated captain. :thumbsup2

Yes, three hours, but we made it! Hurricane Isaac was playing up, but he did not have a chance against Captain Gus! :rotfl: ;)

Holy cow ...3 hours. I love that he made it though

He was determined to dock the ship. And while a lot of activities were cancelled, we all were very thankful he made it into dock safely. :thumbsup2

What a nice day... of food! Your server did an excellent job picking out some tasty dishes!

breakfast the next day looked relaxing.

I bet you were anxious to get to your cabana though... I would have been very anxious if docking was taking longer than usual..

Karin, how many times have you encountered a hurricane on a Disney cruise? Have you had any rock and rolling of the ship? I remember one mention, but was that summer or February?

I just LOVE your photos! Next best thing to being on the cruise. :teeth:

I don't know if anyone has said this, but your brother looks like the guy that played Major Burns on M.A.S.H. That's awesome!
