If we arrive 2 days late, will my reservation be cancelled by MS?

Supposed to fly down to WDW tomorrow morning, but by daughter came down with a low-grade fever (100-101) and flemmy cough a couple of nights ago, and as of my heading to the office this morning, the fever hasn't broken.

If I can push my flights back a couple of days, and let MS know that we won't be checking in until day 3 of our reservation, is that going to cause issues?

[and I know I could just call MS and ask, but the hold time is so damn long...]

We've had this argument on here before (and apparently I lost) and the basic consensus was that if you miss the first day, your room gets thrown up. I couldn't ever find anything to substantiate that if I paid for it for a week, I could show up when I pleased but that's still the way it ought to be.

Don't risk it if you know you're not going to arrive on day one, call MS now.

If you don't call them, you will be a no-show and your whole reservation will be gone. They will not hold that room for you. Call them ASAP.

Cancellation Guidelines*:
For Disney Vacation Club Member Vacation Point Reservations at a Disney Vacation Club Resort
31+ Days Before Check-In Date All Vacation Points used to make the reservation, including borrowed Vacation Points, will be returned to your account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls.
30 Days - 1 Day Before Check-In Date All Vacation Points used to make the reservation will be placed in the Holding Account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls.
On the Check-In Date All of the Vacation Points used to make the reservation will be forfeited.

*Please refer to your Vacation Planner for full cancellation and modification guidelines.

So what do you do if you're flying a long way and the flight is canceled last minute, and can't arrive until the 2nd day on the next available flight--is the whole reservation just gone?!? Or can you call MS that day and cancel the arrival night only and save the rest of the reservation?

For the record, some pretty heavy hitters here stood me down and more or less proved they were right (which I never really doubted, BTW). I just didn't and don't think it's right for it to be that way, but it apparently doesn't change the way it is.

Since the resort takes over control of the reservation and they would be the one canceling it, I would call the resort, not MS. You call MS and they call the resort.

If it's a point issue, then call MS.

And you want to get and call the Resort's phone number, not just the reservations number, which sends you to a general pool and not the actual resort front desk.

The resort number will send you to a call center, just insist that you need to talk to the back room at the resort.

OMG, I hadn't thought of that! And our flight was cancelled once and we didn't show up until what had been the second day of our reservation. Fortunately it was at a "regular" (not DVC) resort and we still had our reservation. What about with DVC, though?

I had my flight cancelled and was 24 hours late arriving at the BWV. (The Pilot went sick) I called MS from the airport who called the BWV, the room was held for me without any problems.

Had I not called am sure I would have lost the reservation though!

Last year we had an ice storm hit the day before we were leave for our trip (staying DVC on points), we received an email that our flight was cancelled so I called MS right away. I asked the same question that you posted and was told that I did have to cancel the first day because if I were a "no show" the whole reservation would be cancelled. Flights were cancelled the second day of our scheduled trip too so I called back again and cancelled the second day as well. The remainder of our reservation remained in tact and we had no issues. I hope this helps.

Today is now 2 days later, so hoping you made it to WDW!

And, if there are problems, always get in touch with MS and go from there. Points for the first 2 nights may have gone into holding but better than lost immediately.

We had this happen last year with flights lost due to snow storm. On the way back from the airport we were on the phone with MS and they were great, told us let them know when we will be making it, adjusted our days at the resort, adjusted our transportation, canceled our dinner reservations with no penalty, and saved our points we were not using. Explain your situation and they are great. Good luck.

Still seems odd that if we hadn't checked in on day 1, our booking would have been cancelled. For all intents and purposes, the entire reservation has been prepaid with points, so it should make no difference whether or not it is used.

You call MS and get them to sort it out for you. I can't imagine they would cancel a reservation after being informed of an issue although I do think it reasonable they cancel

I agree. How can the resort sell the room "twice". Once with your points and then the second time with someone else's points when it is re-sold! If you have paid from the first day till the last day, it should be yours to show up whenever you can and do.

I can understand a hotel room that usually has only the first night paid but in this case, the complete length of the trip is paid (points).
