May 4, 2010
This has been the longest Disney vacation we have taken to date. Our bodies can feel the difference, too, because we were ready to be heading back home on our 8th day. I think maybe we tried to do too much this trip... or maybe not enough resort time. IDK... but we still had some things planned to do this last day before we needed to be back for the Magical Express bus at 4:30. I figured the best way to spend the day was to be in our favorite park. So... Epcot it is! Yay!
First, we needed to check out and put our luggage in storage. Last picture of CSR's lagoon as we walk up front:
She even looks tired here waiting for the bus!
DW smiling away
When we arrived at Epcot there was one ride I was shooting for... the Sum of all Thrills ride in Innoventions. This ride had just opened this year, and I was determined to ride it. Any time I get to design my own roller coaster and then get to ride it sounds like fun that MUST be had!
Not a very good picture here, but this shows one of the arms in motion
Here you can see DD in the simulator:
DD getting off the ride. She was still a little disoriented here... lol
My thoughts of the ride... it was cool! This is an interesting way to get people to think about the physics involved in making a roller coaster... and that this is just one way math can be used in real life situations. I choose the high thrill option and made a pretty interesting ride with plenty of inversions. You can make the ride as boring or thrilling you want! Can't wait to go back and do it again!
As we strolled around Innoventions we found ourselves being entertained by the various interactive demos in the place. One that caught DD's eyes was called Make Every Day Earth Day.
They were making paper at the kiosk. So we walk over and watch the process used to make the paper. Very interesting how they took pulp and made it into little sheets of paper. Here is DD watching the process:
I didn't get any close-up pics of the process, but DD did get to make a piece and it is in the house somewhere now! lol. I may actually find it some day!
Here are some other shots of exhibits in the building:
We ended up eating lunch at the Electric Umbrella. Not the best choice of food at Epcot, but it was right there and burgers sounded good at the moment. I was surprised by how few people were dining at the place during lunch. Seems this place is always packed when I walk by. Don't get me wrong... I was NOT complaining! lol! The food was actually better than I recalled from past experiences. Still... may be a while before we eat there again.
A final stroll around Future World, one last ride on Soarin' and our last day at the parks was quickly ending. DD even talked us into a last ride on Spaceship Earth as we were walking out of Epcot. Not that SE is a bad ride, but I still find it amazing that this is one of DD's favorite rides. I find it a nice place to enjoy the air conditioning
The mood on the bus was a little somber as we take our last resort bus back to CSR. Bye, Bye, Epcot! We were still a little early for the ME bus, so we did a little shopping at the resort shop. We were pretty good about keeping up with our snack credits this time. I certainly enjoyed my share of Mickey head ice cream bars and Goofy taffy! Even still... we walked away with a few more lollipops and rice crispy treats.
Here are some shots as we hang out at El Centro:
Well... I wish I could have said that our last moments here at CSR were wonderful and magic and all went well. BUT... there is yet one more story to tell of our departure. You see that brown laptop bag sitting to the left of my backpack in the last picture? Normally I have all the important documents sitting somewhere inside there as we are getting ready to travel. I figure I would be least likely to leave the expensive equipment behind somewhere or left unattended. So... I really could have SWORN I placed our Magical Express tickets in the side pocket of that thing! Just as the bus is pulling up I am checking the pockets of the bag and I cannot for the life of me find our vouchers for the ride back! So I explain this to the driver and he tells me to go over to the table at the luggage check in area. Had to wait for someone to get some paperwork, verify we were actually supposed to be on the ME ride and all that. I was a little embarrassed by the effort that was going on just because I couldn't find our vouchers! Sheesh. Of course, at this time the bus was loaded and everyone was waiting on me. So... here's your Disney tip for the day... make sure you have your vouchers ready BEFORE the ME bus arrives!
We wave goodbye to Disney World one last time and settle in for the ride to MCO. It's been a good trip... but we are also ready to get home and relax.
Our flight back to Norfolk was uneventful and on time. We love flying Southwest and have had nothing but great, on-time service from them. Hope they stay in business! Oh yeah... one more thing... when I pulled the laptop out of the bag to watch a DVD with DD, guess what I found... yep... the ME vouchers!

Ain't that a kick in the head?
This concludes my very LONG journey to complete this trip report. For those who hung in to see this final installment I must give you a mighty firm handshake. Imagine one of those Bud Light commercials right now... you know... the "real American Heroes" ones... yeah, I just made a commercial about you guys:
