So I've planned a "surprise" trip to WDW for DH's birthday. It's just a long weekend, but we'll get to go to MNSSHP and the F&WF. Now, the surprise was spoiled a while ago, and DH knows about the trip. When I first booked it, we were going to stay at PO-FQ. Then AP rates came out and my DU agent was able to get FQ with an AP rate. Then I was having deluxe-resort-withdrawl, so I switched to AKL with an AP rate. Then DH got upset that we were spending too much money, so I switched back to a mod, this time POR was all that was available with the AP rate. Then we were in WDW in July and DH asked again the cost difference between the mod and AKL. It wasn't much, so he asked me to see about switching back. Well, I told him all they had at AKL was concierge or deluxe water view or savannah view and he said no to those. (He wanted standard view AP rate).

Well, I'm a sneaky little thing and I know he just LOVES the WL. And I was thinking that with MNSSHP and the two kids, being so close to the MK would be best. So my DU agent found me a great WL rate - not a standard room, but still a great rate! So I booked and it's PAID FOR!

So last night, DH again asks about AKL and if anything opened up and that I should keep checking. Boy, was it hard for me to contain my secret! I even went as far as saying, "I'm looking forward to POR. I requested the mansions because they're so pretty." :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Now, this is how I'm planning on surprising him.

We have WL refillable mugs and I'm going to gift wrap one of them in a box. When we get to Orlando International, I'm going to give him the gift as we're walking to DME. When he opens it and sees the mug, I'm going to say "Surprise! I got you! We're staying at WL!!! Happy birthday!" I cannot wait for that moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for listening! ;)

wow..what a great surprise...we, (DH & I) surprised our kids this trip...they knew we were staying at Pop..however, after 3 nights, we surprised them and stayed at Poly....you should have seen the look on their faces...it was definetely a Kodak (of course did not have camera) moment...I told them that Mousekeeping told me that they were disinfecting our Pop room (new resort..kids did not have a clue) and suggested that all guests put their stuff into their suitcases....you should have heard me complaining about this when I was re-packing...even my DS 11 1/2 said..geez mom this is a new place, I cant believe they are making us do this....then he suggested that they might give us some free breakfasts or lunches at the food court...it took everything not to crack up laughing...then in the middle of the afternoon, I suggested that we take the monorail (from MK) to Poly and then go back to Pop for a rest....My DD 10, pouted and complained the whole way there about how this was taking waaay too much time and my DS fell asleep on the monorail...it was too funny....

I am also surprising my DH with a trip to WL but he does not know about the trip at all! It is also for his Bday! We are also staying at WL! When are you going? We are going 10/6 for the weekend! I am having a party for him 10/5 and I am going to tell him that night! Good luck with your surprise! :ssst:

Surprises are great!! We surprised my DD last year for her 16th BD. Just told her we were going to visit friends in FL. I packed a MM backpack with a teen disney book, MM shirt, MM trivia cards, a little goodie from every country in Epcot, a pic of CSR and a BD card. When we stopped for breakfast we gave her the backpack. She was confused at first until she realized what was going on. Then she jumped up & down and started to cry. The best part of the trip was during the light parade at MK she started crying and said we must really love her a lot to do something so special for her. It made the hassles of keeping it a secret for so long worth it!!!

I totally understand how hard it is to keep a secret. My DH and I are going in November and we both decided to stay at the ASMu. Now since this will most likely be our last trip before we have kids, I wanted to do something special for him. I changed the last 2 nights of our trip so that we will stay at AKL with a Savannah View. He has always dreamed of staying there but we could never afford it. The other night we were looking at the thread with all the pictures of the resorts and we came across an AKL picture and he kept talking about how beautiful it is and how he wishes we could afford it.

HEHE!!!!! I can't wait to see his face when he finds out!!!!

Cool! I love the design! How do you make it into a t-shirt???

Here's a tips thread. Design Tips You right click the image to save on your PC than purchase special t-shirt paper to print it on and then iron the design on to the shirt.
