If money were no object - what city/state would you live in?

We live in a cabin in the mountains in Maine. For 7 months of the year is pretty idyllic. However, when the ice, snow, and sub-zero temps arrive much less so.

Would love to live somewhere we could walk or bike safely year round. If money was no object, would probably look hard at Hilton Head Island or maybe another community in the low country. Of course hurricanes are an issue. 🤷‍♀️ No where is really perfect.

If I had enough money, I would have multiple places, but if only one spot in the US, it would probably be Del Mar. It's been awhile since I lived in the SD area but I loved Del Mar so much. Easy access to the beach and honestly not a lot of people thought of the Del Mar beach so it was pretty quiet most of the time. Close to SD for all the fun things to do and great places to eat.

If outside of the US, Paris. I love the city so much and it's pretty easy to get to most other locations in Europe through the train system.

Money no object so that I could fly home as needed? Cornwall, England, as close to the coast as I could get.

We recently moved to Central Florida, and while I like the area, I'd prefer to be closer to a coast (DH disagrees....).

DH and I have discussed having a summer residence and a winter residence that gets rented out for profit/income when it's too hot or cold for us.

We both have talked about Colorado. Part of us would like to stay on the eastern side of the front range because there are more plentiful resources, but we also like being nestled away in some of the cute mountain towns. He's more interested in some of the ski town areas while I'm more focused on things around RMNP.
Steamboat Springs or Winter Park? I have looked at Colorado too but money is an object for me lol. These two towns look nice and I like their locations.

I would look closely at Colorado, northern New Mexico and certain areas in the Ozarks. I'd love to be close to mountains with a decent airport not TOO far away.

If I can move internationally, I d likely go back to the Netherlands and look at Utrecht first. Maybe I'd buy a second house in Tuscany or Umbria in Italy.

Steamboat is nice, but it's a bit farther than I'd like. We drove there from Estes Park once and I just remember thinking how far it felt from Denver. I guess it's comparable distance-wise to Aspen. I liked it, and it's not as far as places like Telluride, but it's still a bit farther. Winter Park and the surrounding towns is more of a possibility. Granby (which is just a bit north of there) and Grand Lake (right at the NP exit) were two I'd thought of that 'might' be close enough to Winter Park to reap some of the benefits of being near a ski town. Although I am not a huge fan of the hairpins coming down from there on the south side to get you onto I70. Still, it's usually passable in the winter. DH suggested Breckenridge, but I think you pay for the name there as well. Frisco and Silverthorne might be better options than Breck...at least for price.

I'm not currently a city girl but if money were no object AND my husband would cooperate, I would be :) I grew up in Indiana (rural & suburbs) & currently live in central Florida and I am SO sick of having to get in a car & drive everywhere :( I went to college in Philadelphia & LOVED it there! I want somewhere with great public trans & walkability in a city - wherever that may be, LOL!

After spending the past few days with our friends here, we’d like to have a place in Old Town Alexandria, VA. This might become our winter area, while keeping our house on Lake Erie for the summer. We’ll see.

Watercolor on 30A. We have toyed with buying a house there, but the ever increasing insurance and property taxes keep us from pulling the trigger. Much easier to just rent.

I didn't even consider Denver. Yes, Steamboat is pretty far. Keystone isn't bad from Denver either but I'm told it's real family oriented and it might be too far from the park. It's fun to consider these places!

Outside the US - Palau. Money isn't the issue there since it's not really that expensive to live there but you have to have a local to sponsor you or you can't live there.

Inside the US - I'd have a home with a bit of beach somewhere in Florida, doesn't have to be a big house. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking Condo. And I'd have a home in of New Mexico, which is where my heart is. That way I have the best of both worlds, the beach and ocean sounds that sooth my soul and the NM, which carries my heart (I went to high school in Albuquerque and fell in love with NM). In NM I can go to the mountains if I want, go to the desert if I want, have fun in Sante Fe and Taos. It is pretty close to perfect.

Happy where I am. I would not want to move away from my kids/grandchildren. I would have two homes/okay maybe three :).

One here - be close to the kids, one for snow birding and one in Italy (my hometown/or very close to it).

That's so hard to say.... maybe a bigger fancier house right where I am?

It sounds exciting to live somewhere exotic, but I wouldn't know anybody there, so yea that might be a bit weird.

If I had to choose a place I've never been and didn't know anybody, I would say Napa Valley in CA.

I like the map, but for leisure travel, you couldn't pay me to go up I-95 along the east coast. It's awful! When we head north (NC-NY), we go about an hour inland.
Yeah I wouldn’t follow it exactly. It’s more the idea of slowly moving north in the spring, spending the summer in the north, then heading south gradually in the fall, and spending the winter in the south. I could easily spend a couple of years doing that if I spent a minimum of two weeks in each state, four or more if I added in the provinces of Canada, cruises, and trips abroad.

Hmmm . . . If money were no object then I probably wouldn’t be working. I would buy a big RV with all the comforts of home and drive around the country, spending a month here and a month there. There is so much I still haven’t seen that it would probably take the rest of my life to do so.
