If I say it out loud, will my wish come true.. PTR May 2011(Link to TR pg41)

:banana:It is getting so close. I have decided to tell Caitlin on Easter that we are going in 20? days. I want her to have some fun counting down. I can't wait to tell her on Sunday.

That sounds so awesome! I can't wait to hear her reaction! It is so much fun to have a countdown buddy!! :goodvibes

I am hoping we don't have a lot of rain this week. Nothing is worse than having a kid home on vacation and being stuck in the house all day.

Do you have anything exciting planned for this week?

I think DH and DD might like Boma better, but I figure I have made so many choices for them . I really want to try Sanaa so that could be my 1 dinner I have for me. DH did see a video about it on Disney Insider and said he would go if I wanted.Caitlin will love seeing the animals but would like the Boma kids options better.

And, yup...what did we end up with for weather this week? :rotfl2: Oh, well.... there were at least a couple decent days in there, although nothing spectacular and a bit on the chilly side. :sad2:

I hope that you had a good week with DD home. :thumbsup2

Your plans look great! And you're definitely hitting the ground running that first day. Garden Grill should be a fun and so is Sci-Fi. I think we might not go anywhere our first day! :scared1: Who knows?

Go for Sanaa then. I'm not a huge fan of buffets, though they are good with small kids. We did breakfast at Boma and it was great. We're doing dinner there this time.

Diane, I think your final plans sound absolutely great. Your trip is getting closer and closer now. :goodvibes

3 weeks from today:banana: I can't wait.

I am preparing myself for her non reaction. I know she won't be one of the super excited kids you see on tv, but it will be nice to have someone to share the countdown with. She actually sat down and watched the planning video with me this week and pointed on all the rides she wants to go on.

It was such a gross week, weather wise anyway. We went to the Beardsley Zoo yesterday and it was so chilly. I wish we had a few nicer days to spend some time outside, but that didn't happen.

I am trying to find somewhere to squeeze in Sci-fi besides right when we arrive but it doesn't seem to fit anywhere. I'm keeping a lookout for adr times that could work, but nothing yet.

I seem to change between Boma and Sanaa every day. I really like that you can seat right next to the window and see the animals. Plus, I would love to check out Kidani and their pool.

Hope you enjoyed your week off.

So exciting!
:banana::banana::banana:
Just a few more of those little guys! We're 80 days out, as of today. Hard to believe!

I didn't even try to keep this upcoming trip a secret. I'm impressed that you've been able to keep it this long. :thumbsup2 And it's always more fun to have someone to coundown with who's almost as excited as you are! :woohoo: Max has already made it clear that he would like to do another countdown calendar again. I'm waiting until we're maybe fifty days out. I barely have the patience for that...can't imagine doing one at 80 days!

I hope she's super excited!

Yes, the weather was not great. But it made me feel better about spending the vast majority of my time spring cleaning. It was totally necessary though and I'm glad we did it. We did some things around here with Max on Monday and Friday, which was great. At least today was beautiful!

Good luck figuring out Sci-Fi. Its such a fun place.

I haven't been to either, so I probably should stay out of this particular debate, but the Arusha rock viewing area at AKL is pretty cool, too, so you'd get to see animals regardless. But you probably already knew that. Sorry...that was no help! :lmao:

  19 DAYS

I am so excited I can't stand it Diane. I really hope we run into each other, I know I could recognize Caitlin from those baby blues. Are you on twitter? I tweet through the parks on my iPhone, so it's pretty easy to see where we are. I already packed our first day clothes in the carry on. In fact, other than undies and my toothbrush and make up, I have us all packed completely, LOL. I can't wait! Sunshine and 90, here we come!!!

The weather was so beautiful today. It was the perfect day for Easter. I wish we had it all week but at least we were able to enjoy on last day of sunshine before vacation was over.

Last year I started my countdown chain super early. I think 75 days out. It was a chain link and I hung it from the ceiling across from my desk. Once it was shorter, maybe a month out, I moved it downstairs for Caitiln to do. I was nice seeing the chain get shorter, but much nicer only having the 19 days calendar now.

I have Boma booked now, but I am not 100% about it. I am afraid we won't like it. I think I will leave it book and decide that day. If we are tired or tired of eating I will just use some extra credits and order room service. I figure since we aren't doing any signatures I will order room service at least once to try one.

I am going to start packing today. I have been throwing clothes I want to bring in the suitcase the last few weeks, but need to actually decide what to bring. I always bring too much and we don't really need 10 outfits each since I do laundry half way through.

I am the last person on the face of the earth who is not on Facebook or Twitter or whatever else there is.

I am going to keep a look out for you on Sun. We will both be at EPCOT and then the Poly at night. I am going to try to make it to EMH that night, but we'll see.

Boma is our favorite restaurant!!!!!! The food is varied and delicious, with a special kids' buffet too. It's beautifully themed, not a typical buffet. I don't think you would be disappointed. On our last visit, we dined there twice. ::yes::

A few pictures from our week.

DH’s birthday was March 20 and since Caitlin had a stomach bug that week it went pretty much uncelebrated. We had brought him cards and they had been sitting in my car for almost a month. On Tues. it was rainy and we were bored so I told Caitlin we were going to throw Daddy an un-birthday party. The theme was from Alice in Wonderland and we made a cute little tea party.
We made signs and covered the door with streamers.

A super surprised DH

We baked cupcakes and cookies. We also made pbj , turkey and ham sandwiches with no crust and cut in small shapes. We had iced tea and punch.I thought it was pretty cute if I do say so myself.
IMG_0022.jpg

Excuse Caitlin’s arm. I guess she couldn’t wait to have a cookie
IMG_0021.jpg

After the whole thing was over DH asked what an un-birthday was. Hello, Alice in Wonderland? He has never seen it. So the whole tea party, the picture of the mouse in the teapot I hung on the door as a clue was pretty pointless. Caitlin invited DH’s mom and she has never seen the movie ever so she didn’t get the sign either. Seriously?
Anyway it was still a fun party.

We went to the zoo. I have no pictures. I transferred them over to the computer and they came up as symbols instead of pictures. Since I saw them transferring over I deleted them before looking at the file. Now I need to figure out what the problem was b/c if that happens to my Disney pictures I will need to be committed.
IMG_0034.jpg

I do have one picture b/c DH was holding my old camera and I took Caitlin in the prairie dog thing. Yes, that is Caitlin inside taking a picture. Over the weekend I bought her a cheap camera. She has been bothering me that she wants her own pictures, plus she tries to grab my camera from my hand all the time. I figured I’s spend the $30 to get her a camera over having to replace my $300 camera b/c she tried to grab it and it flew in the air and smashed on the ground. It doesn’t take very good pictures and I told her she could use my older camera but she insists on using hers.

The big reveal. To tell Caitlin when we were going I gave her the countdown calendar.
IMG_0036.jpg

Each picture says ___days til Disney
IMG_0038.jpg

I can’t wait to get to this one.
She read it and didn’t seem to get it. I told her we are going to Disney in 20 days!!
“Is it summer in 20 days?
(I have been telling her we were going sometime in summer)
No, we’re going in May instead.
“Why are we going in May, I thought we were going in Summer. Why don’t we go in December so we can see the xmas parade”
No, we are going in 20 days.
She does seem to be happy when she tells people we are going in 20 days though. Whatever.

DH also decided to ask where we are staying. I told him we are doing a split stay which I had asked him if he had an issue with months ago. He had no issue months ago, but now he doesn’t want to do a split stay. I don’t see why he even cares since I do all the packing anyway. That put me in a bad mood for awhile and then I told him too bad. I had already planned to do the packing in a way that we had everything we needed in certain bags for certain days, plus when we check in the second time I will just wake up early and come back before we need to leave.

Easter was a beautiful day and we actually spent some time outside. Caitlin and I spent some time on the swings while DH got to pick up the dog poo.
IMG_0060.jpg

I hope the weather stays nice b/c I really need to restain some of the swingset
IMG_0055.jpg

IMG_0061.jpg

Even the dogs were excited for the beautiful weather

Sorry for the huge pictures. I really hate photobucket. It crashes me computer so once we get back I think I will use flickr for my trip report.

You did great on the "unbirthday party". I'd make DH WATCH the movie so he gets it. :happytv:

Cute countdown calendar.

I love the warmer weather, but that "dog clean up" can be so annoying. Definitely a guy's job! ;)

Your post was just funny :lmao: (and sad) in so many ways!

I LOVE your unbirthday celebration for DH:thumbsup2 and am laughing that neither he nor his mom knew what an unbirthday are!:ccat: Poor DH no wonder why he doesn't get Disney!

Your dogs are gorgeous. Is that a Belgian shepherd & a German Shepherd? Your GSD has similiar colors & marking to Thor (my GSD).

Was Easter gorgeous for you? we had great weather.

:rotfl: at Caitlin's Un response.... bet by today it has sunk in better. Sometimes it takes a little for it all to sink in.

We are SO EXCITED...almost two weeks out.... I am still slowly packing things up. Need to make Katie try on the rest of her shorts so I know what fits her. and get ones for the tip envelopes. and cash in our change bucket...I think that's where I"ll get the ones from & then go fill the tip envelopes for mousekeeping.EEK so excited!:dance3::dance3:

Great job on the Un-Birthday Party!! :thumbsup2 (even if DH didn't get it!). My DH would not have known either!!

Caitlin's reaction is just what you expected wasn't it?! :) Glad to hear you had decent weather for Easter!

I loved our Tea Party. Caitlin and I spent most of the day running around to get everything we needed, baking and decorating. It was a fun way to spend a rainy day.

DH really needs to see the movie. Maybe we'll invite his mother over too.:rotfl:

Dog duty is all DH's department. When he mentions it to me I tell him I'll get right on it when he starts doing laundry.

Easter was beautiful most of the day. It was in the 70's and perfect. I thought it was going to rain since it was cloudy in the morning so I hid Caitlin's easter eggs throughout the house. If I had known it was going to be nice I would have done the Easter egg hunt outside. I filled the eggs with Disney pins for her lanyard. I also gave Dh a lanyard and Caitlin had to give hime some pins. There was also coins and candy in the eggs.

I can't wait to finally be in Disney. I am actually kind of getting a bit sad it wil be all over soon. It stinks knowing we won't be back for awhile. I am just going to enjoy myself as much as possible this trip. If DH is a downer he can stay in the hotel.

Her reaction was pretty much what I expected. As long as she didn't say she didn't want to go to Disney I would be happy.

Awww, I can't believe they have never seen Alice in Wonderland! You need to sit them down so they can watch it.

What a sweet party! And I love your countdown calendar! Very nice. And only nineteen days!!:banana::banana: Super exciting!

I love the way you told your daughter that she was going to disney :) I love the whole countdown calendar concept :) Even though it didn't click with her right away it was still cute :) I also think the unbirthday thing was cute :) Did you get your husband to sit down and watch Alice In Wonderland after he said he didn't get it?

Hopefully it will be the movie we watch for movie night this week. How can someone go their whole life and never see that movie?

I was secretly hoping the tea party would get Caitlin into the tea party spirit so I could book the GF Tea for just the 2 of us but she isn't having that:confused3

Awesome party!!!! Looks like fun! Ya'll are SOOO close!! Which day do you arrive? :)

We get there on Sat. I am so excited I could burst!

Caitlin asked me yesterday if we will really be going to Disney once we rip off all of the pictures. I guess she didn't fully get the whole thing. Once I assured her we would be going she looked very excited and then asked if we could buy all of her friends a present at Disney.

I am going to try to get DH to watch Alice in Wonderland this weekend. Originally I booked Park Fare for breakfast this trip. I am so glad I changed it b/c DH has also never seen Mary Poppins. :confused3
