If I Made The Rules In Fashion

These are some steadfast rules, while others are based on fashion trends of the moment:

- All clothes should be wrinkle-free.

- Men & tights are a no-no. The only exception is if you have save the planet from certain distruction planned by your evil arch-nemisis & have "The Amazing" or "Super" as part of your name - in that case you can pretty much wear whatever you please.

- Unless you're a lumberjack or a trucker, you shouldn't wear flannel, besides grunge died 8 years ago, let it go.

- Mini skirts & clevage should always be in fashion.

- If you're white, don't get dreadlocks or cornrows. Even the people that tell you it looks good are laughing behind your back.

- Speedos bad. If you're in the water expecting to win something it's ok...if you're at the beach trying to look sexy, the moment you put the speedos on you have failed.

- There should be no such thing as man-panties. Shamefully I did once own a pair of bikini-briefs, but I also used to think that back before color film, the world really was in black & white. I've figured out a few things since then.

- Leather pants. Unless you're a rock star with a hard core, full-throttle Behind The Music story or a pretentious, self-congratulating one-named celeb, they shouldn't be worn. It's only ok for them, because it's kind of like a bozo uniform & makes them easier to spot.

- Cowboy clothes. Unless you actually live on a ranch with horses & cows, don't try to pull it off. It looks goofy & people will think you suffer from brain-damage.

- A worn out t-shirt & cut-offs are fine for a late-night drive-thru run...not so much for walking around in broad daylight.

- No one should buy tight shoes. If they don't fit, don't buy them. Unlike waist size, feet do not shrink. The people that buy tight shoes get what they deserve.

- Guys shouldn't tuck their shirts into their underwear.

- Socks...they shouldn't be pulled all the way up to the knees if you're wearing shorts. Also, the only color that is acceptable to be worn with shorts is white. Anything else looks goofy. Sandals & deck shoes are the only guys' shoes that shouldn't be worn with socks.

- Sandals shouldn't be worn with pants & the sandal-sock combination shouldn't even be considered an option.

:teeth:

most of these are very very true, but because of one or two of these in particular... let's just say that i, for one, am very glad that you don't make the rules of fashion.

Jeff, you are Mr. GQ.. lol.. I agree with all of your rules..

I agree with most of them.

Which ones?

miniskirts should have stayed in the 70s. (except on certain ppl... :p)

and my flip flops are attached to my feet .. even when i have long pants on ..

cornrows look good on some white people, but dredlocks shouldn't be found on ANYONE.

Okay, besides mini skirts and cleveage, what SHOULD people wear? :p

I love men in flannel shirts! Flannel shirts, t-shirts, blue jeans and work boots. Yeah baby!!!

Sandals shouldn't be worn with pants??? Why not??

The only one I agree with is: "Guys shouldn't tuck their shirts into their underwear." Do some men really do this??

Actually I think mini-skirts were a 60s & 80s thing. But I have no problem with short skirts. :teeth:

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree with the sandal/flip-flop & pants issue. :)

Can you tell me of a case where a white person with cornrows looks good that maybe I haven't though about?

I was scared to open this post...but, I'm glad I did because I agree...except for that mini skirt and cleavage rule:p

I can't tell you a white person that looks good or doesn't look good in cornrows, it just doesn't phase me one way or the other (neither do speedos  ). :p

But ... do some men really tuck their shirts in their underwear?

As long as it's not listed here, whatever else probably wouldn't bother me too much, provided common sense was used. ;)

Every time I see flannel I think of the Lumberjack Song from Monty Python.

The sandal-pants combo really doesn't work. I guess some people don't like the baggy pants look, I don't like the S&P combo.

And yes, unfortunately some guys do tuck their shirts into their undies. If I saw one of my friends doing this I might strongly consider no longer being friends with them. ;)

jeff what about dressy sandals with a pant suit?

i've always liked that look. :)

Dressy sandals with a pant suit? Hmm, I can't recall what that looks like. Can you post a pic?

I agree with the mini skirt cleavage hing. It's as American as apple pie.

I think spandex should be outlawed.

well, this isn't exactly a pant suit, but here's an example... :)

I wear sandles with well-fitted khaki pants all the time. I sometimes wear them with jeans, too, but never with any pants that are really baggy at all. I think that the look is much harder for men to pull off than women.
