I see that they sometimes change your flight time when you book in advance. welll now I have our tickets for a 8am flight on dec.18th will it change that much???
I was curious because if people have to be someplace and they are changing flights that could really mess up there trip.

I would hate to think I am leaving at 8 am and they move me to a 10 am flight. that was why i booked for a early flight to get there sooner. OR do they just move you flight to be sooner that would be ok with me.

I see I am on a ted flight, if they offer us to move up to the nicer seat for the extra 20$ I hear it is would it be worth it for the 6 of us ( 2 adults 4 kids) ???

nicer seat for $20? I am confused

While TED/United does offer Economy Plus seating as a buy up at the check in point, or at the gate, it is rarely $20. The fee is based on length of flight. Or you can pay $299 per person per year to get guaranteed Economy Plus access.

Economy Plus is a significant revenue generator for United, and one of the primary reasons that they have such a loyal frequent flyer base.

I have even heard FAs tell passengers that moving to an Economy Plus seat without paying the upgrade charge is theft.

As to schedule changes, United like most legacy carriers does them seasonally. Expect one in the summer and one in the fall before your flight. They will still offer an MCO-ORD morning flight - there is usually one around 6am and one around 8am most times of the year.

edited to add - I see that you are looking at ORD-MCO being at 8am. Usually there are 3 TED flights a day at any given time in the year - AM, midday, and PM. Even if the time changes, there should still be at least 3 flights/day, and as you are going during a peak holiday season, maybe more.

sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread, but bavaria, I know you fly United frequently, so I thought I'd ask you here, and hope you will read :)

We are flying out of LAX, and want to take a redeye to MCO. There are only 2 carriers that offer redeyes, and we prefer United out of the two ;) Our vacation isn't until April 2008 but I would like to book airfare when I see a good price (I know it won't be for another month or so until those dates are available anyway). Now reading this thread, I am worried that they will change the flight times on me if I book early. Do they often change times for a redeye flight? And will I lose my seat assignments if they do?

I fly the LAX-MCO quite often, and know someone else on another Disney board who does as well. It seems to run pretty much anytime I look for it, so I wouldn't be too worried about them cancelling it. They may tweak the times, but I think that chances are very good that there will be that redeye in some form.

if they change the flight time, they MAY change/remove seat assignments. Since I never book a flight more than 0-14 days before departure, I have never actually had an airline change a flight time in advance ie a schedule change.

The E+ upgrade is either
- confirmed in advance for elites, or for $299/year for non-elites

OR

- offered at online check in or human check in, or at the gate

If taking the 2nd option, the cost varies by distance travelled. It seems to start around $30 and ranges upwards, depending on the distance of the flight.

Also note, that if you do the 2nd option, chances are very low that there would be seats together in E+ at the time of check in. Middle seats next to elite members are blocked until shortly before boarding, so any E+ seats which open up are likely to be middle seats.
