If I EVER do a Dining Review

Whatever.
:flower3:
I've said my piece.
I'll move on.
Life to short to fixate on stuff like this.
I've got other things to fixate on.

Look for my misspellings on "a thread near you!" :thumbsup2

I'm sure some of the responsibility for poor spelling and grammar skills have to do with the over use of modern technology and texting abbreviations.

Cuz b4 we had 2. Now we R in 2 much of a hurry 2 B bothered.

One of my pet peeves was when people said "aks" instead of the word "ask."

It shocked me when I was listening to a program on NPR when they explained that the original pronunciation of the word was indeed "aks."

I tend to agree with Wally's choice of the word petty. We are writing posts on an internet forum, not the next greatest literary work of all time. When I post something, I spend a few seconds jotting down a note that expresses my thoughts. I tend not to proofread, and I am sure that I make several mistakes. But frankly, I have better things to do than going over my discussion board posts with a fine tooth comb. If that makes my opinions less credible, so be it.

No one is perfect, and we all make mistakes. I could point out a spelling or grammar error in virtually every post in this thread, including posts by those most vocal about their... disdain... for grammar issues.

And while we may not be discussing or attacking any certain person's grammar or spelling ability, I am certain there are people who read these forums, who may or may not post regularly, whose writing skill may not be up to such a high standard. It worries me that a thread of complaints about mistakes in posts may discourage such people from posting in a forum that seemingly doesn't tolerate an innocent mistake here or there.

Huzza! :thumbsup2
You said that way more eloquently than I.

AHHH! I totally agree with you!!!! It's so irritating (to me).

Also, I hate when there are random quotes on things like:

- Come and taste our "fresh" coffee (***?!?!?! eew)

Disney does it too, in the MK there was: The "Plaza" Sundae

UGH! Just needed to get that out there!

As Rob points out, a discussion of pet peeves is not directed toward anyone, nor meant to put anyone off.

It could easily be pet peeves about people wearing red pants. :teeth: It wouldn't mean that someone shouldn't wear red trousers, simply that some people may find them annoying.

To disparage someone's opinion works both ways, eh? ::yes:: My pet peeve may be totally off the mark to you, and any you may have may not be of concern to me. Makes neither one of them less valid to the individual.

I would hope that anyone who visits this board is quite capable of realizing that someone's opinion is just that, an opinion and not Robert's Rules of Order. :)

I'm dyslexic, so if you are looking for proper spelling or grammar you'll have to look elsewhere. :snooty:

If I ever do a Dining Review/Trip report and use an apostrophe s where one is not needed or doesn't belong, please beat me with a wet noodle.

For example:
The place is called 'Ohana; NOT O'hana or Ohana's or O'Hana's. There is no Kona's at the Poly. There is no Boma's at the AKL. There is no Jiko's either. There are not WalMart's, Kroger's, or Food Lion's anywhere. Yes there is Tony's Town Square, and yes there are McDonald's. There's even a Chef Mickey's and Trail's End.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest, thanks for letting me vent.

Just so you know it's "THE Walmarts":goodvibes as in "I'm up here at THE Walmart's" "I'm going to the THE Walmarts"

I LIKE Lady GaGa! :rotfl:

A friend of mine who is also a physician has dyslexia. :)

Sure.

I'm also a horrible speller -
But paradoxically have a fairly good vocabulary.

I just think a a "community board" we should try to be tolerant
of people on all levels of the spectrum.

Just because they can't spell it, or punctuate it properly does not mean
they don't have something valid to add.

And sorry :sad2: - it just seems petty.

Thank You Guy's LOL

Ooooops I misspelled that...

I meant - horny child! :lmao:
