If i book room at 11 month window, can i use points from non home resort at 7 mo win?

Just wondering, if i book at my home resort at 11 months, and i own at 2 resorts, can i use the points at 7 months from the non home resort and change it to use those points instead? Since i only have a small amount at one resort and a large at my other, i want to free up the small amount later by banking them after the 7 mo mark maybe. is this allowed?

Only if there is availability for the exact same accommodations at 7 months. It's called a point reallocation.

if by "change it", you mean "cancel and rebook if it's available", then yes.

but you can't substitute pts just to get around the 11 month advantage.

A question for those that know...If these are 2 different accounts, can you do a transfer from one account to the other to get all of the points in the same account that has the 11 month home resort points?
Or is there no way they are 2 different accounts because they are the same person?

if you have 2 different accounts (i.e. 2 different member numbers/2 different UYs), then you can do a transfer from one contract to the other. then you can pool the points from 2 contracts to book a single night at 7 months.

but if you want to book BLT at 11 months, you need BLT pts in order to do it. there's no way around the home resort window.

Yes, you can transfer from one to the other and then use all the points at 11 months as long as they are the same home resort.

Transferred points always retain their own UY and home resort. As others have said, at 7 months, if the room you booked using home resort points is stil available for booking, they will allow you to use the other points.

If all the nights are not available, you may be able to do a partial substitution if the nights at either the beginning or end of your stay are available to be rebooked at 7 months. So, if you book Fri -Tue and Sat - Tue are not available, but Fri is, you can cancel just Fri and rebook with you non-home resort points. However, if Fr and Sun - Tue are not available, you cannot rebook just Sat with out cancelling Fri as well. -- Suzanne

I did exactly that. I had a 5 night reservation at AKV at 11 months. Shortly after I hit the 7 month window, I added 2 more nights to the trip using AKV points. I added on a BCV contract shortly after that. I was able to apply some of the BCV points to the two nights I booked at AKV after the 7 month window. They were not available for me to use for the nights I booked at 11 months.

No cancel and rebook was required for this type of transaction. It was simply a reallocation of points.

Which means that there is no functional difference. You must be able to cancel and rebook or you cannot reallocate. The point is that you can't get around the 11 month advantage this way.
