If Harry Potter is going in a new area, where?

It's time to play one of my favorite games....where would a new attraction go?

First, someone posted on the Harry Potter thread in the rumors board that one of the local news stations did say that US is building a new attraction on unused land...of course they could just be repeating what the other article stated.

But if it's true and they are using a new area for it, I wonder where...

In IOA there's a few places but they're relatively small, one between LC and JP and one between JP and Toon Lagoon.

The more recent rumors haven't mentioned IOA specifically either which could mean that it really is going in the Studios. There is a huge chunk of land next to MIB that could be used, other than that, I don't see any other land areas that aren't being used.

Here's a link to google maps with the satellite views:

Thoughts?

my one thought is, chris was so brave to post on that rumor thread.......

i thought for a moment he was going to get whacked for what he said....

since you read the jim hill rumor, many are saying lost continent area.
don't know how potter theme would fit in there.

since the studios is where the movies are, it might be best over there.

as long as they build a skywalk over it for me, I could care less where they would put it.

and there had better be a beer stand at each end of my skywalk.

hehe, :thumbsup2

Remember that I posted a thread on here about how theming isn't necessarily a matter of opinion and gave several examples. The designers of IOA are very talented and made things just about as good as you can with the budget and land available, IMO

If it is going to go in a new area I would put it south of Islands of Adventure on the plot of land that has been set aside for the 4th and 5th onsite hotels. Shoot the space is big enough for a 3rd park its about the same size as either IoA or USF. If it is used for expansion of IoA there would still be enough room for a 4th hotel.

If it is just going to be an addition to IoA use the spot between Jurassic Park and Toon Lagoon to build a depot of some sort maybe a train station. Then you are carried across the road to the actual rides and attractions. In some ways similar to how Universal Studios Hollywood is built on the hill side and it has the lower section which you must ride down several flights of escalators to access.

Also USF has options as well. I believe the parking lots north of the park are employee parking as is the parking lots west of the park. Build a parking garage on the lot west of the park and tear out the northern lots. That would give enough room for several attractions. Because of the houses near by it would all have to be indoors but it could be done. Also with the closing of BTTF there is a lot of land free now in the north eastern corner of the park.

Thats where I want the new attractions but my guess is if its at the studios the plot of land east of MIB and north of BTTF. If it ends up at IoA its going to be where Lost Continent is today.

I like that idea! The train could be the Hogwart's Express! :thumbsup2

It's going in the plot of land behind Flying Unicorn. It would probably fit better in USF, considering how popular the movies are, but it technically wouldn't be much of a stretch for IOA. Jurassic Park was originally a novel as well. I just dread what they'll do to LC's theming.

It's called "Project Strongarm", for those who don't know. It was recently mentioned by Jim Hill that Universal has obtained exclusive theme park rights for the Kuka robotic arm technology. Strongarm... yeah...

:rotfl2: AND one in the middle!!! :rotfl2:

Up till today I had heard that the Lost Continent was going to be re-themed to Harry Potter and I wasn't too keen on that idea,I love the Lost Continent how it is,but if Potter land is going in a new area that's great, that park needs some sort of addition!!

as long as they leave Mythos and the Enchanted Oak and most importantly the Alchemy Bar alone!

It's going in the plot of land behind Flying Unicorn.

Unless they plan to modify some of LC along with that land, I don't see it fitting in that area. I mean all indications so far is that its going to have a whole land to itself, there just isn't enough of room right there. A new JP attraction by itself could fit there, but I dont think anything else.

The north east corner of USF next to MIB is used for fireworks storage.

Agree, the area between Flying Unicorn and JPRA is very small. If you stand next to the bathroom near Pizza Predatoria, there are wooden doors you can look thru. It's a field with a hill to the side by Flying Unicorn. 1 or 2 attractions would fit, but not an entire land, no way.

Indications are there because the trees have markers on them. There's enough room for a robot arm coaster, and a few kiddie rides in the middle along with all the shops. Then again, they could convert the Discovery Center building and use the Triceratops Encounter land. I don't think people would cry if they changed the name of Burger Digs to something else and changed the lower level. The HP land would start at the edge of JPRA next to Pizza Predatoria, and go to the bridge.

The idea about boarding a train next to Rip Saw Falls and taking it across the street to the land next to the RPR sounds plausible and would be really cool. But I think that's much more than 100 million dollars.

it would be extremely cool and suddenly the relatively small IOA would be much bigger in possibilities

When I go back and read the entire Screamscape page talking about Strongarm, it makes you wonder whether the new land will be in the Lost Continent (Conversion), or if it will be the land behind Pizza Predatoria, the Discovery Center, and the Triceratops Encounter space.

Markers have been spotted near the Flying Unicorn bridge leading to JP.

So does that mean they're going to convert the LC, and expand it to Pizza Predatoria moving the JP entrance sign?

It's very interesting to speculate when looking at the satellite picture.

The "whole land" is Lost Continent. The plot behind FU is just for the new ride.

You just slashed Jurassic Park into a quarter of it's current self. What's the point of "expansion" if it destroys so much of the current themes in place? Not to mention that the Discovery Center, while not the best attraction, is an iconic building of JP.

I think they will redo Poseidan and Sinbad and just add minor stuff over beside Flying Unicorn.

Maybe back here somewhere?

Ok, IF they're adding a new ride there and changing LC, would they be telling everyone that it's all "previously unused" land?

I mean if most of it was going to change LC you'd think they wouldn't put that in there.

Have they actually even said anything? Isn't it just speculation on our part right now?
