An ice storm knocked our power out for 80 plus hours. We lost all the food in our refrigerator and our chest freezer. We have replaced stuff in our refrigerator - so we are not foodless - but in this instance does anyone know if your homeowner's insurance will pay anything towards that? We lost several hundred dollars worth of food. Just a thought. I doubt it would, but thought some of you may have experienced this before. By the way, we are in the South so this is a rare occurrence here. I am 41 years old and never remember being without power that long.
We were also without power for 80+ hours. Luckily, our office had power so we transfered our expensive freezer stuff there--I lost lots of veggies, etc. but kept most of our meat. It's nice to have power again.
