Just want to get my favorite experts' opinions...

I'm travleing with 23 eighth graders this Sat. to DC. We are going with a tour company. Our tour guide said all we need to check-in with at the airport is their names with the confirmation each one was assigned by the tour company. I called Delta just in case and the rep said minors need to travel with a birth certificate....but I wonder if I call another tour agent if s/he would say something different. I called the tour company and she double checked and said we definetly do not need a birth certificate, but a student ID with their name and picture would be a good idea to have with them. In none of the literature from the tour comany does it say they need any travel documents, only for international travel.

Those of you who have flown with minors....what documents have you traveled with, or have you traveled with any and what problems have you encountered? BTW...we are traveling on Delta to Cincinati and Regan Interantional.

Because no one has answered you yet.... :wave2:

I've only flown with my DD and DNiece, but the gate attendant has only ever asked for their names....from them.

I know that's a LOT different than 23 eighth graders, but I thought I'd share my experiences.

Security simply took the passes.. and then asked each child their name when I just fly 2 weeks ago.

Flew last week with two seventh graders and security on both ends (philly and orlando) never asked my children thier names or for any identification. My children brought thier studen id's just for a picture/name association, but they never asked to see them. Good luck!!!

My kids have never needed any ID to fly. My DD has even flown alone and no one asked her for ID, she has also been singled out for the extra security check and again no ID. The only time in all the years we have flown that I neded anything was when my son was under 2 and flying free.

Delta and American have asked me for an ID for my boys in years past when checking in at the gate. They had mentioned this on the phone to me so I was prepared with their BC's. I have since had them state ID's made and this summer we are buying passports.

I don't know if this was not the norm, but it has happened to me twice.

My dd, now almost 13, has never been asked for ID. She has been asked her name. She usually travels with her school ID...it's not terribly official but since they don't really need it, it is fine.
