We will be arriving at Orlando the night before our cruise at around 3:00 pm. (I guess it's more like afternoon, huh?) Will be staying at a hotel near by the airport. Won't have a car, will be using the hotel shuttle to get to our hotel. DCL bus to get to the port on the day of our cruise. Any suggestions & ideas on what we can do after we check into the hotel? I figure we'd need dinner, any good places to eat, that's not too far? Have 2 DSs, 4 & 2. Any place that's fun for them to check out?

Feel like I'm leaving an ad for something...I guess I am, for your thoughts, & ideas, & suggestions. Thank you! :wave2:

Which hotel are you staying at? We arrived really late the 12th and our cruise was the 14th We stayed at the Rennisance and also didn't have a car. There were a lot of restraunts with in walking distance from ours. I saw Denny's and we ate at Bennigians for dinner. I can't remember other names, but I know there were more.
Since we arrived after midnight we slept in on the 13th and then just spend the day relaxing and swimming. I wanted to relax before our journey began.

we're at the hilton by the airport. where is the rennisance? by the airport as well?

i figured if nothing else, we can just relax & swim at the pool...

thank you! :wave2:

Yes it is not far from the airport. There are a lot of hotels over there. I was amazed by how many there actually was. Sorry I don't remember if we were near the Hilton. I am sure you guys will find someting to do. Just being able to swim and sit by the pool in the 70 degree weather was enough for me since we came from snow and cold.

We will be deplaning around 7PM Friday night and plan to shop and eat at the Airport - so much to see and do! Then we will head off to get our luggage and meet the Holiday Inn Select shuttle (got it on Priceline for $40 plus tax).

For kids your age - try the Winter-Summerland Mini Golf at WDW. What a fun way to get Disney-fied before getting on the ship! My kids loved it when we went (aged 5 & 7). Another idea - go to Downtown Disney to get some Disney experience before the ship!

YES, If you like food, than you need to eat at Emerils new resterant called * Chop Chop* this is one of has best rest.

call them 407-503-2467

Have fun!!!

Where is Emeril's restaurant?

On our last trip, we decided to try a dinner theater, and was that ever a lot of fun! Might be worth checking out to see if any are near your hotel.

rae519...just curious, it that your birthdate following your name? anyways, you mentioned shop & eat...what's there at the airport as far as shopping & eating, besides the sundries type liquor stores? and quick bite eateries? as you can tell, we don't fly much, and have never been to the orlando airport. but you make it sounds like there's much to do?

jwann...is the miniture golf in WDW? do we need theme park admission to get in there? or is that a separate little thing? and for downtown disney, isn't there an admission fee to that, as well? (just trying to figure out the money situation, & how much we need to bring...)

again, thank you everyone for your wonderful thoughts & ideas. haven't decided what to do yet. shopping is always good (for me, but maybe not for DSs & DH) miniture golf sound fun. :wave2:

The only miniture golf I know is near the Epcot resort. Not sure where this is. As for Downtown Disnet, it is free and parking is free to. Lots of food and shops but again no sundries type store. The only fee is Treasure Island after 8/9PM?? and it is for adults only. Before that you are welcome to walk through it to see it.

FOR SOMETHING FREE TO DO, CHECK OUT DOWNTOWN DISNEY BUT ITS A BIT OUT OF THE WAY
IT IS FUN THOUGH

No admission necessary - yes it is in WDW but not in one of the parks. Check out this website for more info http://www.wdwinfo.com/recreation/minigolf.htm

Yes, 5/19 is my birthday and remember ANDY is older than I am if you want to cruise with us next year!!! That's the bonus question I plan to spring in my idea to have a 1955 TRIVIA EVENT!

Ohh, I just love to look around the Disney Store, the Universal Studios Store and the Sea World Store - plus I found a great sandwich shop that has these HUGE sandwiches with the best pickles!! I can't remember what it's name is, but it's right off the monorail.

I also like the USO, when it's open. Great place to stop and rest in a quieter atmosphere. But it's only for those who are military or retirees.

ok, i tried to get that fancy quote thing with the bars on top & bottom, but didn't quite work out right! goofed, again! :wave2:

rae519.....We will be doing the same as you when we venture to Orlando. We were one of the many that had reservations at the Radisson (by the port) for the night before the cruise. We bid for a 3 star on Priceline and got the Holiday Inn Select, then cancelled the Radisson. For the price we were paying at the Radisson, I got a night at the Holiday Inn Select, 2 Disney Quest tickets for our teenage boys, and 2 Pleasure Island Tickets for DH and I!!!

We fly in around 4pm. We thought we would just relax by the pool and get a bnite to eat. From the website, it looks as though there is a pretty good selection of eateries. If you are heading for the cruise befire July, you will have to post how the Holiday Inn was!
