My oldest son will be turning 16 on the 26th of October, I plan on have a birthday party for him on the 17th of October. However I have no idea what to do for the party. It was so easy to plan parties when they were little but for a soon to be 16 yo. :confused3 He a really good kid who love old Metal like Metallica, Ozzy and some of the new stuff also, though at the moment I can't think of any of the bands. He loves World of Warcraft. I'm going to have it at our house, we own 40 acres so we have plenty of room. Though I don't want to spend a ton of money. What would be a cool, or whatever word they use now, theme or idea? He's a really good kids who never asks for anything and I really want to do something great for him. Thanks for your help.

Melissa

ps. I read on a party site that one mom got a local HS band to play at her sons for like $100.00, but how would I go about finding local bands.

Bond fires are really popular with the high school kids around here. They love to have them on the weekends and you have plenty of room.

As for the bands, ask around, that is best way to find them. I know there are several kids that have band around here. Ask some of the other kids who they are and how to get in touch with them. Some of them are pretty good!

Thanks, duh me I didn't even think about the bon fire thing.

Duh, I didn't realize I had misspelled bon until I saw it quoted! I guess you could have a BOND fire, and throw all those worthless bonds in the fire too!!

I second the fire. For my dd's 16, she invited a bunch of friends, got the fire pit going ( we live in town so have a smaller yard) and the kids just hung out and made s'mores...I got pizzas, munchies and then cake. It wasn't elaborate but they had a blast. Eventually they came in and watched movies. We had about 20 kids total.

Maybe put up a volleyball net, or get some badminton equipment (starting to go on clearance now I would think).

Since your yard is that big, I think the band would be a cool idea. I bet your ds can just ask around at school when they start back. We have several bands at our HS and the school actually has them play in the cafeteria when they have special things going on (homecoming week, prom week, etc..) so I'm sure if he asks around you would find one.

Have fun!

What did your DS say about the party? Has he given you any ideas what he would like?

Shoot I think I might need those BONDs to pay for this party when all is said and done. lol

I was thinking I was going to try and surprise him, but the more I think about it I don't think it will work. To diffcult to do with family coming in from out of state I think they would be a dead give-a-way.

thanks for all the great ideas.
