ideas for inexpensive sit-down restaurants

We are traveling with a group of eight.. four adults and kids ages:6, 14 and two 16 yr olds. (all girls except youngest)
I wanted to have reservations at night as it's Christmas week but I don't want expensive meals every night either. WE may just end up grabbing counter food some nights but we are staying at the Dolphin so we have a lot of dining options close by. Would love to hear recommendations. Christmas I think we are set with T-Rex

the plaza in magic kingdom is very reasonable for a sit down. liberty tree tavern at lunch, nine dragons in epcot at lunch, and kona café at the Polynesian are fairly reasonably priced.

Reminder that you will receive a percentage off of your meals at the Swan/Dolphin Resort if you show your AAA card (if you or a member of your party is a member) especially in Picabu.

Other options (if you don't mind a little walk):

* Take bus to Downtown Disney and walk down Hotel Plaza Boulevard (15-20 minutes) to the Crossroads Shopping Center. There you will find Red Lobster, Olive Garden, BW3s, Perkins, Uno and a few other reasonably priced dining options. Guys especially love BW3s with all of the flat screen TVs. You would have to walk back down Hotel Plaza Boulevard to catch a Disney bus back to your resort.

Columbia Harbor House in Magic Kingdom has fantastic counter service meals! Salmon, couscous, and veggies for $11! Another good one is Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Disney....gourmet food for non-gourmet prices.

Those are great suggestions , For a MK day I'd add Grand Floridian Café and The Wave for lunch. We are big fans of TS lunch since it gives us a break in the middle of the day. At Epcot I would just do CS - they have the best CS on property. Sci-Fi at DHS is another good one.

Another that I have been reading great reviews for is Trails End over at Fort Wilderness.

In Studies we are doing Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano, big portions and prices are affordable.

I second that. My husband got a water, I got an adult drink, we split an app and the 3 kids got meals, with tip it was over $70.

Not sure how big eaters you are but we have gone and got apps each and then had a few sides of fries with it and has worked perfect for a nice meal out

Some good suggestions so far. Check out the Via Napoli menu. You could probably feed the entire table with two of the Mezzo Metro pizzas,or even one of them plus a large. With drinks, tip and tax you'd come out around $125 which isn't too bad for 8 people at a table service.

You also might want to check out the menu at Beaches and Cream. You can't get reservations there, and would likely want to get there as it opens for a table. I find the prices there on the reasonable end of the scale. And though not a table service, both Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD aren't terribly expensive and have great food.

These are my go to counter service restaurants:

Downtown Disney: Earl of Sandwich (haven't tried Wolfgang Puck Express yet but it gets really good reviews)

Magic Kingdom: Casey's but only for the Corndog Nugget meal-I crave this between visits w/that cheese sauce & mustard they have at their condiment station! They also have malt vinegar salt packets for the fries which is also yummy.

Epcot: In World Showcase, I Love Kringla Bakeri og Cafe for their club sandwich & school bread, which is always filling enough to split both in half for two adutls. In Future World, I've had a good turkey sandwich at Sunshine Seasons which was split between two.

Hollywood Studios: the Buffalo Chicken sandwich was excellent at Studio Catering Co. (not very spicy to my taste but still good enough to get the sauce on the side or no sauce) & I also enjoy the Grilled Veggie Sandwich at the Backlot Express

Animal Kingdom: Flametree Barbeque!!

I like to have a nice sit down every now & then but most of the time I'm looking to eat on the go & almost always on a budget.
Oh, geez. Now I'm craving Corndog nuggets, Lol! Good thing my trip is less than one month away!!
