Ideas for an onboard gender reveal?

I found out my baby's sex today and I want to do something creative to "reveal" to my mom and kids when we are on the Dream next week. I had boy and girl magnets ready to go, so now I know which one to take! The only idea I had was to ask if they can write "It's a --- " on a dessert plate or something. Any other ideas?

Sent from me.

see if they'll make a special cake then have them use food coloring for the cake part to reveal the sex blue-boy/pink-girl....

tell them the baby's sex will be revealed when they cut into the cake...

We did the cake for DS (and at that time I had never heard of anyone else doing it and thought I was super original!). If Golden Mickey's doesn't work out either, that will be plan C, and written on a dessert plate is plan D.

We did a cake 2 years ago for the reveal and it was so neat to see everyone faces. Especially the mom, She felt like it was a girl but was totally wrong!

I'm in tears over this!!! Could barely even read it out loud to my DH I was laughing so hard.

Thank you! I am here all week.... :cool1:

:offtopic: alert:

One of the funniest things I have ever seen at sea was the marriage show my first time on the Wonder. The question was: Where is the weirdest place you and your husband have "discovered the magic"? (he said it in a sleezy way, anyone over 14 would know what he was talking about).

The old couple said "In a dressing room at the mall, last month" the place was dying laughing

The medium couple said "In my dads bed (who was onboard the ship, but not in the room!)

The newlyweds were the best: The wife said "while boarding the Wonder"

everyone in the place was like "huh?" She didnt realize what "discovering the magic" was. The place was in stitches laughing, she was so clueless. I was almost in tears. Even the servers, who probably have seen this show 1000 times, were dying. One put her tray down because she was bent over laughing.

Finally the CM running it said "SEX! I MEAN SEX!!!"

That was about the funniest thing I have ever seen, not that anyone asked.

That game is called "Match your Mate" a ton of fun when right couples get in there...not sure if the game show name changed or not.

Another Match your Mate game show question asked of the women: "What is the first thing that your husband touches in the morning?" That leads to all sorts of interesting answers!!!

Thats it. The other question was "what Disney character would you most say your mother in law resembles"

old couple: maleficent (they got it right)
medium: Dumbo
new couple: Wendy from Peter Pan

Definitely a show not to be missed!

We leave in the morning, but in case anyone is wondering...I am going to try to do the Golden Mickey's interview. I am going to talk to guest services as soon as we board and if that isn't going to work I will see what else they suggest. If nothing else I can do the dessert plate.

Have a great time, if you are bursting to share your news, you could always have it announced as you board the cruise...

You're probably on your cruise already, but we announced our 4th pregnancy on our last cruise. We did a back to back and had my mom on first and my inlaws 2nd so we actually did it twice. So first cruise, since we were telling our kids too, we ordered the Mickey head cake and when it came out the kids were excited to see it and my husband handed them an envelope to open before we cut and ate the cake. So our oldest, 9.5yo, opened the envelope, read the letter about getting a new sibling, saw the ultrasound photos (I was almost 14 weeks at the time we announced it and I had an ectopic before this baby, so I had already had 3 ultrasounds so we had a decent collection of photos), and then a magnet frame for my mom that said "can't wait to meet grandma!" With an ultrasound photo in it. Took my daughter a couple of seconds to realize we meant we were having a baby (we were also traveling with friends so she questioned us or them ;) ), and our son wasn't paying attention at all. Then our friend asked him if he was excited about a new sibling (he had been dying for another one for well over a year and had been commenting on my belly over the preceding few weeks), and his reaction was priceless. The 3yo was sleeping and my mom, well, we knew her reaction would be what it was. She was not nearly as excited as my kids, to put it nicely, but again, I expected that. We got all of them on video and it was really fun.

Anyway, you could get the Mickey cake and have blue/pink decorations on it cause your kids will love seeing the cake.

Oh, and for my inlaws, it was Father's Day so we got another cake (1/4 sheet that time), and had them write "happy Father's Day papa" then under that was "Madison, Henry, Scarlett, and baby 4". We also had the kids sign his card that way just in case he didn't study the cake. Well, he missed both that and the card, but my mil read it and was shocked and happy. And a week earlier my bil announced their first, due 5 weeks or so after ours, so she was really surprised that she was going from 6 to 8 grandkids all at once.

If you have time could have made a T-shirt with the classic Mickey ears lower over the belly. Of course for a girl would have to add the Minnie bow!

DH looooooooves the Crush idea and wants me to be able to keep my mouth shut until whatever night we happen to get AP!Sent from me.

I was going to suggest Crush too.
Crush helped with a proposal on one of our AP nights. I think you talk to the head server on your first night. If AP is your first night, go to guest services, and they'll send a message ahead of time.

I tried to do an onboard gender reveal to my wife after our kids fell asleep, but she said she already knew I was a guy and she had a "headache"..
If my husband gave me twins, I'm pretty sure I'd have a permanent headache!

Fair enough :rotfl:

But since I have been spayed, I guess she really did have a headache. Or not.

I told her the next day when she wanted to go shopping in Puerto Vallarta I had a shopping headache and did not want to go. She was not amused.

After our third kid, we doubled down and hedged our bets. We're both spayed!

Just curious how it went?

It went well! We got RP the first night and I really wanted to do the Golden Mickey's, but the kids wanted to see Nemo in 3D which was at the same time. So, I just went to GS and told them I wanted to do something cute to tell my family we are having a boy and left it up to the head server. At dessert that night, our server brought a "special message from Mickey," which was "It's a Boy!" written in chocolate on a plate, and this blue plushie thing (I don't even know what it is, they sell them in Club Cool in Epcot). It was very cute and my mom says that is what she guessed! So then after dinner I got to put my blue magnet on our door.
