Well I'll be in dis for my mums birthday in august, now you're never too old for disney as is the case in my family and my mother is going to be 65. I know with the wishes ceremony and all it will be a truly magical birthday already but just wondering if there was anything extra special i could do for it after all disney is where things happen! i mean i know there is the tea party at plaza gardens (I know cafe mickey do birthdays too but my parents really don't like the food in there so that isn't an option) has anyone had a birthday tea party is it worth it? or do auberge de cendrillon do something? Or even the Blue Lagoon (although despite this being the best idea ever i think having Jack Sparrow give her a birthday cake is i am quite sure wishful thinking.....but that would make her life probably!)

Was there a way to organise a guest of honour thing at guest relations or have a birthday suprise waiting somewhere in the park?? I just don't know!!

My mother is just happy to be there for her b'day but a little suprise would never hurt and she is quite down about being 65 too...so rather than it being a horrible number it'll be the one she never forgets.

All ideas/experiences shared gladly welcome!!!

The birthday tea is the same as the normal tea party with the addition of a birthday cake and the birthday person gets a gift (usually a small plush Mickey) The characters will sing Happy Birthday when they bring the cake.

Although it sounds good I think in a way its a waste as the tea party is mainly sweet cakes anyhow so you are getting yet another cake.

Dont get me wrong we really enjoyed the tea party but if it was me I think id prefer the cake at another location

You can order a cake in any table service restaurant and I think the character buffets (Lucky Nugget/Inventions)

Again the problem with Auberge is there is a dessert included so would you really want cake as well whereas at Mickeys or Blue Lagoon or Walts you could just order a main course.

Would your Mum want everyone round to be looking at her and singing do you think or would she prefer it to be more private.

Perhaps a special meal at California Grill?

You could also arrange things for the room yourself. I know Jill phoned once for one of her sons and got balloons in the room so you could ask.

They dont do birthday badges but theres nothing to stop you taking one with you for her to wear

Actually we are going to the davy crockett a day ahead so we thought of doing the cabin up even though it'll be a couple of days early

She would be fine with everyone singing and staring but it seems such an obvious thing if i can't think of anything better i would settle for that though she'd love it no matter what.

Would Walts do something nice for a birthday? perhaps a cake or acknowledge it at least-it might be nice to dine there and watch the parade (if we can get a window seat!!!!)

What about lucky nugget-anyone had a birthday here???

I think you can get a cake at both Walts and Lucky Nugget.

A window table at Walts would be a nice idea

You definitely have to do up the cabin - you could have balloons/streamers/posters/photos/banners.... the list is endless

Just had another idea as well - think you can book spa treatments at Disneyland hotel. Would she like this? Or even just cocktails in the bar at DLH

Some great ideas here :goodvibes

What about the bookable tour around DLP. I think if you let DLP know that this was specifically a birthday treat it may be special :)

Yes you can order a cake at the Lucky Nugget. It was a rich chocolate one that they brought out whole first then took to the back to cut up bringing the pieces out to us on seperate plates. It was very good. I liked it better than the one at cafe Mickey's- that one was a sponge cake type with a hard frosting you could peel off. 9 year old daughter was thrilled and liked it though. If I knew how to add pictures I would attach it so you could see it but I don't know how...

Good luck, I'm sure Mom will be thrilled. If she doesn't mind attention you could always make her a t-shirt or sweatshirt depending on the weather that says something like "Today's my birthday and like a fine wine I get better with time" or "65 Years Young today"

I personally don't want people looking at me but I love reading those kind of shirts- they always make me smile
