ID for child when flying?

You do not have to have ID for under 18 if they are asking they are wrong, and you do not have to show it.

The only thing I have ever been asked is who is who and that is only to see which name belongs to the adults so they can see ID for them.

Both my son and husband's names are on the Do Not Fly list (they have different names) but are allowed to fly (my husband has Top Secret clearance). I bring id for my son so he doesn't have to go through the hassle of waiting for an approval call.

Then you are a special case and IMO should say that instead of telling folks you have been asked for ID. kinda misleading don't ya think?

But I have been asked for his id so please don't say I misled anyone. Thank you. I told the truth. And there are so many names on the Do No Fly List that this could happen to anyone.

Every year my son gets a child ID card from the school when they take school pictures. Even in daycare they did this. We use this as his ID on the plane, just in case. (Note, we have never done the lap thing with him so never needed the birth certificate for the airlines)

We would hand him his ID and he would always take great pride in presenting his "drivers license" to the TSA agents or other airline employees. We always had a very nice response from these employees as well.

The other thing we have noticed is the agents will ask him his name and sometimes who we are, and compare that to the boarding pass.

Our TA told us that typically we shouldn't need anything. BUT BUT BUT, if something were to happen to highten the terrorist alert, chances are they would want ID. We were told either a court issued birth certificate or a state photo ID would work.

Taking the birth certicicates just in case here....
