Just had a moment using the free wireless in the hotel lobby to check in here.
We had quite the ice storm here in Nh and my family and I are out of our home until power is restored. The power went out about midnight Thursday..we spent lastnight at a hotel and are in the process of finding places for all of us tonight and the next two to three if needed.

Please keep all of us up here in Nh in your prayers that we get our power and heat back soon. There are about 400,000 people here without power!

If you want to see more.....http://www.wmur.com

Hope to be home soon and back online with all my fellow DISers.

Good luck finding lodging. I hope heat and power are restored soon. Sending "warm" thoughts your way! ~Elizabeth

I see this on the news. Looks aweful! I pray all goes well in the next couple days for you all. I know it can't be easy leaving the house, and the worry of all that comes with it too. :grouphug: Keep warm and keep safe!

I used to live in that general area - On the MA/NH line - I can remember some of those nasty ice storms.

Sending good thoughts and prayers and pixie dust your way that things get back on extra quick.

Sending pixie dust and good wishes that you get your power back on:hug:
We were lucky here, just north of Boston, we had a lot of rain, but thats it.

I'm just south of DISMOM+TWO and we just got power back after a 32 hour outage. And I consider us lucky. Good luck to others and hope you get power back soon.

I hope your power is returned soon. It is a cold weekend here.

My family is from Maine and some have power while others don't, they are all staying at my parents since they are the only ones with power. Everyone else have been without power since Thursday night.

I was just watching some news footage of the storm aftermath...I hope you can have some normalcy soon, but in the meantime --stay warm!!!

I'm in the same area, and feel incredibly fortunate that the only power outage we experienced was probably less than a minute overnight Thursday (some of my clocks never even lost time). But many people we know are still without power, and the authorities are telling folks it may be 3-5 days. My heart goes out to all still experiencing a power outage.

We left home yesterday and headed to our relatives in MA that have power. Our whole town is still without power. We have no idea when power will be back on. Our house temp is down to 48 as of earlier today a neighbor told me! We were hoping to go home tomorrow but it is not looking good! Everyone else stay safe!

My parents got power back to their house shortly after me this morning. I still have a sister and brother without power. Three blocks behind me are pitch black. No power at all.

46 degrees outside in the winter is like a nice balmy day here in NE. Inside it's like a frigid hell. Never knew 46 could feel that cold.

These are nothing like the photos shown on Boston or Manchester stations. Going up and down my street yesterday. Not that bad but bad enough.

I tried to post yesterday from my parents house but I am seeing that it didn't post.
We got a call from a neighbor about 6pm saying that the power was back on!!:cool1: We had dinner there and then headed home. The Christmas lights on the house greeted us home!!
It had gotten down to about 42 in the house...it took some time to warm it up but alas...we were able to sleep in our own bed and woke to a warm home!

Thank you all for the prayers and pixie dust!! There are a lot of people still out so please remember them as well!!

We just got power back a short time ago. Just short of 58 hours. Woke up to the sound of a boom, and noticed the power was out. Spent the rest of the night periodically checking on the house (super-paranoid now about trees falling on our house after that happened in October), and realizing how dangerous it was to actually be outside - trees were shedding limbs left and right, along with the ice spears waiting to impale me.

Around 3am, a limb fell and impaled itself into the frozen ground a good two feet deep, a couple feet from a picture window under which my in-laws were sleeping. They didn't sleep after that.

I saw a fir tree two doors down shed a branch every few minutes. There is barely anything left of it.

I hope to get a picture of a tree a few streets down - it is splayed out in a way that I can only describe as a "bloomin' onion" from the Outback.

By morning, several houses around us had their service lines ripped off the houses. There was large branch being held up by all the wires that feed my street - fortunately it didn't shift and rip everything down. A couple of streets down the tops of two telephone poles were snapped off, and the wires ripped from the pole down the street.

I spoke with the linemen from the town (our town maintains its own power and a neighboring town - we've been spoiled by not really having many long outages), and they have never seen anything like it. One was retired after 32 years and was brought back in to help out.

We lived like refugees for the past two days...spent one night at my sister's while my in-laws stayed (they brought their dog, so there wasn't many options), and then we all stayed at a friend down the street that got the power back earlier. I spent the day yesterday resurrecting a wood burning stove that was in the house when we moved in to try and keep the house warm enough to not freeze the pipes, and not smoke myself out, for which I was moderately successful, although when I got back this morning it was only 42 degrees...

We saved some of the frozen stuff, but had to pretty much clean out the rest of the fridges and toss it.

Still no power for us today. They say it could be a few more days! School has already been canceled for tomorrow. All of this and winter isn't even here yet!:headache:

DW and DMiL talked to some people at the store...some areas in the surrounding towns have been told not before Wednesday, probably Friday.

I just talked with my family in Maine.
My sister lives in Dayton and is without power and probably will be until Wed also. Her family has been staying with my parents since Thursday.
My parents have had power but are without a phone or cable and they were told that could be out through next Friday depending on how fast the electric company get through first. They are happy that they have power at least when so many are still without.

Here is Somersworth, we still don't have power in parts of the city. My family and I are at a hotel for the night. I'm hearing that it could be "several" more days before the power is restored. I am at my wits end already. Mostly because all of the businesses near my home (about a half mile around the corner) had their power restored by Friday night, while our neighborhood is still without. How nice that I can see the lights at Wal-mart from my front yard, but can't stay at my house because it was only 38 degrees in there this morning! Sorry, needed to vent for just a moment. It amazes me how quickly all of the businesses were restored, but the places where people have to live might be days, or even up to a week.

Anyway, pixie dust from my Dis Family is appreciated!

Still without any power since Thurs night and now they predict midweek to possibly 2 weeks!!! Holy man!
