Ice Cream - What's your favorite brand and best price?

Blue Bell- usually over $5 for a half gallon but often on special for $3-$3.50.

DH and DD love the Blue Bell lowfat frozen yogurt.

I can't eat anything but Bryers - there's something in the other ice creams that bothers my tummy... DH likes the checkered flag (vanilla & chocolate), I like mint chocolate chip.

I'm on WW too, and trying to keep a budget, so I only buy ice cream when it's a 2 for 1 deal (and I only buy 2).

I think it's breyer's--might be edy's-- strawberry cheesecake with graham cracker crust. Even at $4 a half gallon I figure it's a deal because without it I would spend $4 at coldstone for a single serving of cheesecake ice cream.

CARVEL Soft Serve !! Nothing beats the taste of Creamery Soft Vanilla !

And their cakes ! Gotta love those Crunchies !!

We just found a new favorite......Blue Belle's Chocolate Covered Cherry....it's too die for!

DD and I also love Target's Archer Farms brand of peanut butter chocolate. It's got huge peanut butter swirls. Unfortunately, DD and I can eat a 1/2 gallon of that stuff a little too quickly, so we seldom get it!

Well I really like Haagan-Dazs Ice cream and they have GREEN TEA until August this year. So I have to eat as much as I can until then (haha). I also really like Krogers Private Selection brand. It's really really quite good!

Haagan-Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter is our favorite, mixed in with a little Blue Bell Vanilla... ;)

Yes, like everything else in the grocery store, the price of ice cream has soared... The trick is, of course, to watch for sales. Most all brands go on sale at one time or another, with the 'two 4 ones' being the best.

We have a deep freezer, so we can stock up thanks to the extra space.
We originally bought it for meat storage, but these days we're using it for everything from ice cream to veggies. It saves quite a bit of money in the long run, even factoring in the electricity it takes to run it.

Has anyone else noticed the trend of ice cream containers getting smaller and smaller and prices staying the same or increasing? Most of the major brands used to be 1/2 gallon, and cut down to 1.75 quarts a few years ago. Last week at the grocer I found that Dreyer's has gone down to 1.5 quarts! We have lost 2 cups of ice cream per container in the recent past (and regular prices used to be a lot less than $6.00!). Their ice cream is still good though, but I can only justify name brands when they are on sale.

I'm moving to Texas soon, and I am very excited to be back in the land of Blue Bell! That ice cream is amazing, and the sales are pretty awesome. I especially like their version of Birthday Cake (I'm not sure exactly what its called).

If your from the south east I say Publix wins hands down!!!! They have a great value (they are always having a sale on it) and it tastes soooo gooooood! :worship:

We like Breyer's and Edy's but with the prices, we've tried Kroger premium ice cream and think it's great for the price!

We like Graeter's Ice Cream which is big here in the Columbus area and Cold Stone too, but we have a peanut/nut allergy in our family so we can't eat ice cream from any place out.

OMG....Carvel! I've forgotten about Carvel! I loved Carvel growing up!
I just got a pang of homesickness! (I'm from NJ orig.)
:cloud9:

Bruster's Birthday Cake is my favorite, but a little pricey at almost $9/ half gallon.

After reading this thread, though, I am going to hit up Target for some chocolate peanut butter!

Kline's Dairy Bar- Banana (homemade custard style ice cream- local )
Ben & Jerry's -Phish Food
Kroger's cookies & cream

Blue Bunny Premium Bordeaux Cherry Chocolate is the latest flavor I just bought at Wal-Mart, and we all love it!! It's a cherry-amarreto flavor with whole cherries and big chocolate chips. Very yummy and $2.98 for the pseudo-half gallon (1.75 quart) size. The last time I took DD11 for ice cream at the stand it was almost $7.00 for two of us (a kiddie cone for me and a small cone for her). At those prices, we'll eat it at home instead, although I love Cherry Moose Tracks and have only found it at the stands....sigh:confused3

Hagaan Daz honey vanilla....$2 pint
Cold Stone Sweet Cream...too expensive but worth it sometimes

mayfield's caramel coyote is great!!! of course then there is baskin robbins love potion 31, and oh yeah, shake's frozen custard is da bomb!!!

We LOVE Bluebell Vanilla Icecream.... it's just like homemade vanilla icecream. It's too expensive though. $5 a gallon

Oh my, only one other person has named Ben and Jerry's as their favorite! I can't believe it!

The ONLY ice cream I buy for at home is Ben and Jerry's. Its not budget ($4 for a pint) but SOOOOO worth it.
