We're in countdown mode, 23 days until WDW!:cool1:

Serious question, we're trying to make lemonade out of lemons here...my wife is on a pretty serious medical course of treatment that requires her to take some medicine that is fat soluble, so basically she needs to take in a high amount of fat just before taking her prescription.

So we decided to go out of our way to have a great ice cream dessert every day at WDW (not that I would have needed much encouraging anyway)!

SO...we're looking for suggestions for the best ice cream you've had at WDW, and I guess we could be convinced to try other desserts also!!

Thanks!

Where are you staying? Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club gets my vote. It is convenient to both BCV and also to BWV (short walk or take the boat across). BW also has an ice cream cone store right next to Flying Fish. Mickey ice cream bars are high fat and to die for and are available in most resorts as well as the parks.

Griradelli's (spelling) at DTD. 2nd vote for Mickey Ice Cream bars.

We're bouncing around a little, unless our waitlists come through. We'll be at Kidani, then BLT, then Saratoga. We have a car though, so we'll be able to get around easily.

Please hit me up with your favorite desserts, as well as the locations!

I think EPCOT area has the most options.

Beaches & Cream has tons of ice cream choices
The Fountain at Dolphin also has ice cream sundaes options
Seaside Shores at BW has ice cream
Main Street Bakery at MK has ice cream sandwiches made to order
Sleepy Hollow at MK also has ice cream sandwiches made to order
Ice Cream Parlor at MK
Beach Club marketplace used to have awesome gelato but I heard that's been discontinued.
Ghirardelli at DTD ... need I say more

and there's always MICKEY BAR!!!! Yummm...

oh I forgot, there's an ice cream shop in EPCOT Future World too.

Well at least her needs will be easily met, ice cream at Disney is not hard to find! As far as favorite ice cream, Girardelli's in DTD has me hook, line and sinker! So many possible combinations and possibilities!

How could I have forgotten Ghirardelli at DTD? I think because I have NEVER eaten there in 40+ trips to WDW because the line is always so long. One of these days...
As for favorites, the good old fashioned banana split at Beaches and Cream is one of the best I have ever had. Don't know what there is about it that makes it extra good but I get one every time we are there. AT $7.99 it is plenty big for 2 people and so a real bargain as well!

Not envious that she needs to have meds, hope she feels better.

... However, I think we all wish we had a medical reason to have ice cream every day!

Beware that the mickey bars (yum) might have a lower fat content than normal scooped icecream. Typically bar icecreams are made with more milk and additives to help them freeze into shape. The coating however probably adds enough fat back in.

Try dessert hopping around the World Showcase in Epcot! I've not met an ice cream dessert at WDW that I didn't like! I consider the bar-be-cue ribs at Flame Tree in Animal Kingdom a dessert.

Tony's in MK has gelato, although I usually get the teramatsu.

If you need a booster, there usually seems to be pints of Haagen-Daas in the resort stores...

The Plaza Restaurant in the MK. Such good classic sundaes! :lovestruc

I LOVE the creme brulee at Le Cellier! :lovestruc

Edited to add: This is just in the event you get tired of ice cream, which is blasphemy at my house. LOL

There is a pastry shop in France in Epcot called "Boulangerie Patisserie." I think everything in this bakery is high in fat. We love it there!!!

If you want a delicious fat filled dessert at BLT- go up to the TOTWL and have the 7 layer cake for 2- it is amazing (and we ate it together and had a full serving leftover for each of us (it is like 1/6 of a cake). It is the most amazing chocolate cake I have had- it has 2 thin layers of dark chocolate cake, 2 layers of cream milk chocolate and carmel with some crunchies in it, 2 layers of a white chocolate cake, and a thick ganache frosting with a floret of carmel cream on top.

I'm here at WDW right now, and ironically I just had some of the best ice cream ever at Sanaa. It was passion fruit-mango. The only possible disadvantage may be that it seems to be only available as a dessert to a meal. I've also enjoyed the "Strike it Rich" sundae at Ghiardelli's. I love ice cream, so tell your wife thank you for me, because she's just given me a reason why I just must try all the ice cream I can find around here-research for her. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it! Why not an ice cream-lover?

Wow... do you have a picture of it by any chance. You're making me drool...

I 2nd that! Love the pastry shop. Be sure to get some zebra domes at AKL too. I think you can get them at Kidani, but if not hop over to Jambo. Had them for the 1st time last trip. They were delicious.

Sorry I didn't take a picture of it but it is amazing. We love going up to the lounge for a while each evening and having a light dinner of appetizers and then desserts and such. I miss them having a few different flatbreads up there- they only have 1 one the menu at a time now.

For ice cream definitely Ghiradellis. One of my personal favorites is the dough bar from Cookes fish and chips in DTD, it is a battered and fried snickers bar on a stick and sprinkled with powdered sugar.
